2003 Jeep Cherokee

Summary:

Jeep is a TERRIBLE choice

Faults:

When I first purchased this vehicle, I had to replace the fuel injector for $150.00.

Then only 4 months from that date, I had to replace the passenger side window regulator, which went out. That cost $225.00.

Now only shortly after that, the blend door actuator has gone and the wiring harness has melted inside its housing, making a complete mess.

If you know anyone that wants to purchase a Jeep, warn them because it is a piece of crap. Pray God makes a way so I can hurry up and get rid of this Nightmare.

2003 Jeep Cherokee Grand Laredo Inline 6

Summary:

Dream or nightmare..

Faults:

I have had to replace one of the calipers.

The front end is totally out of alignment, and needs offset ball joints to be repaired completely (mucho $$$). Although this is a pain, it can be dealt with.

My biggest problem is when I'm driving and the tranny gets to the highest gear, I hear a whine coming from the powertrain. I'm not sure whether it is in the driveline or differential. It's really annoying, and it seems that when the Jeep hits that gear, that the truck has a 10% power loss. Anyone know what could be causing this sound?

General Comments:

Love the style... the rest sucks...

2003 Jeep Cherokee Grand Laredo 6 cy

Summary:

The transmission whine should not be considered normal and should be corrected by the manufacturer

Faults:

Transmission whine is getting worse. It has been a problem from day one and has gone from a clicking, to rubbing, and now a whine starting at 40 mph and being very noticeable at 60-65 mph.

General Comments:

The transmission whine should not be considered normal and should be corrected by the manufacturer.

2003 Jeep Cherokee Laredo V6

Summary:

Not a nice ride for the money

Faults:

The jeep makes a whining sound at 48 MPH and above when you tap on the accelerator.

Dealer states that this is normal and they all do this.

General Comments:

The 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is very cheaply made on the inside. Generic looking material, no imagination on the design, knobs look old fashioned. It rides OK at best, and has no guts in the V6 model. But I knew all that when I bought it.

Sometimes it's OK to have no frills. But, I'm dissappointed in the service side. A jeep rep. (not a local salesman) stated that the noise it makes is normal. I will drive another one, but this upsets me. They're either blowing me off, or they found a problem too late and don't feel it's cost effective to fix it.

I agree. I recently bought a 2003 Jeep 6cyl Laredo. Unfortunately I made the mistake of just test driving it at slower speeds. Now and every since I drove it off the lot.. at 48 MPH, just like clockwork, the transmission starts whining along with making a "airy" type sound when I push the accelerator. Took it back to to the dealer twice and they ended up replacing a valve unit on the transmission. Did no good. Test drove 2 others on their lot and they all did it. I took the salesman with me and he heard it as well. Right now they still haven't advised of a fix. Glad I bought one with a 7/70,000 power train warranty, because I might need it. If any one has any luck with a fix, let me know and I will do likewise.

P.S. Great Site!
