2008 Jeep Liberty Limited 3.7 V6

Great features, great to look at, but needs constant repairs every 10K miles

Faults:

The Jeep Liberty is a piece of junk.

I've purchased vehicles with well over 200,000 miles, and this one has been one of the worst vehicles I've ever owned.

I've had to replace the water pump, radiator, tire pressure sensors, and the entire fuel tank assembly (the fuel always sprayed out of the inlet, and after complaining to Chrysler Jeep, I found out that the part has a lifetime warranty and it was replaced under warranty).

The TIPM has problems always; usually it is the power locks will fail especially when it is hot outside during the summer ($750 fix).

The air bag sensors in the seat and clock spring always have to be replaced, which is about $250 each time.

General Comments:

I purchased this vehicle because my '07 Chrysler 300 was getting near the 200,000 mile mark, and I really wanted a vehicle that could go on mountain trails (which I sometimes I drove my lovely 300 on).

This vehicle was fully loaded, came with every option and feature for the 2008 model.

I like the remote start, the leather is nice, the seats in front are among the best for tall people... The most comfortable I've ever sat in on long trips.

Off road it does good on big, rocky, bumpy, slow going roads; however in the snow and mud it does awful, even with brand new off road tires.

On the highway it does great on flat, interstate driving, and will achieve upwards toward 25 MPG, however if there is any mountain passes, steep grades, or high winds, you will have to have it pretty much floored the entire time. I feel that the transmission is at fault, like it is outdated, and needs another gear.

Exterior design is very nice, but the metal seems too thin, especially the hood. Also the windshield washer sprayer nozzles always break off, I've replaced 3 times.

Interior is nice to look at, but a closer look at the back seat area seems cheaply made, the cup holders look like a pile of cheap plastic, and the 120V outlet caved in, making it even uglier to look at.

The turn signal stick is made cheaply, and during cold winter driving, you will have to hold the stick down for a few seconds for it to stay.

The plastic around the instrument cluster is also made of cheap garbage plastic that constantly rattles on rough surfaces.

Overall this vehicle is totally a mess, it has constant issues every 10,000 miles. However it has never left me stranded, and I go on long trips, from Albuquerque to Denver, and anywhere in between. It has very nice features, and among the best sound system in its class.

I am looking at trading the thing off as soon as something more reliable catches my eye.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I also forgot to mention that the Sky active roof is a joke, it breaks all the time. After hearing this, I got the Liberty with the sunroof.

The sunroof does not seal correctly, and the drain tubes are not made correctly, and any time that there is heavy rain, or snow, it will leak and leave ugly stains all over the head liner from the front of the vehicle to the back.

I have found that the only thing that cleans it off is Tough Stuff multi-purpose foam cleaner.

The coolest, most fun and most reliable vehicle I have ever owned (and I have had all the super brands), especially from a value perspective.

These new model Jeep Libertys are AWESOME!
