2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport 6 Cylinder

Summary:

In all fairness, being a Jeep, this SUV handles exceptionally well, definitely worth the money

Faults:

Distributor cap froze up.

Paint chips easily from small rocks on highway.

General Comments:

Handles very well on road and off-road.

Great on roads during winters.

Back seat is a little hard to get out of.

2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4.0

Summary:

I love my Jeep. My wife says I'm in my second childhood

Faults:

No problems.

General Comments:

This vehicle is used both on highway and off highway. It is a Jeep and not a Cadillac. With that said, it affords reasonable comfort and great performance. I use the vehicle for local trips in addition to frequent hunting and fishing trips into the back country.

I have installed an after-market suspension package to raise the vehicle 4 inches and allow more suspension travel. I have also added after-market wheels and 31 inch tires. Off-road comfort and handling are great.

2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4.0

Summary:

Good off-roader with decent manners on the highway

Faults:

Nothing. So far, I am pleased with it's reliability. I do have to add that the black plastic pieces on the wheel wells have faded really bad.

General Comments:

I bought this car because I have always wanted a jeep. It fits into my outdoor lifestyle and I can tow it behind my RV. I am very impressed on what this little vehicle is capable of in stock form. It will climb like you wouldn't believe. I have yet to get it stuck. My opinion of the drive train is that it is pretty much bulletproof. The in-line 6 smooth and powerful. It doesn't get very good mileage around town, but on the open highway I have managed to get 18 mpg with the automatic.

Never stuck off-road.

Warm all winter long and quiet with top up (compared to my old 87 w/hard top)

2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4.0 liter I-6

Summary:

Fun and exciting

Faults:

Dealership had recalled two items on it.

The ignition switch and manifold shroud.

Suspension bolt loosened up.

Dealership took care of all problems, no charge.

General Comments:

It handles terrific off-road, takes anything that I put it under. Handles pretty good on road considering that I have a aftermarket suspension on it and big tires. But Jeeps were not made just for road only.

2001 Jeep Wrangler Spoert 4.0L V6

Summary:

Has an awesome engine

Faults:

The transfer case blew up, and I could not shift into 4-wheel drive. I brought it to the dealer, and they fixed it free of charge.

They also recalled the vehicle because there was ignition problems on all 2001 models. Again, they replaced it, free of charge.

General Comments:

Do not buy any optional package. I made this mistake and I bought the jeep with the larger canyon tires, the CD player and overhead sound-bars. After a few months, I started to dislike the sound system. So I ended up buying a sub-woofer, amp, made my own custom box, a Kenwood receiver, and 5" speakers. In short, I bought a brand new sound system. You would also want to buy new tires and rims. Although I am content with my canyon tires, many would prefer larger tires. Personally, I am scared of the "center of gravity" issue.

The engine runs great. Many made fun of my Jeep saying that it could not handle the highway. Although it was kind of noisy inside, especially with the soft top, if ran fine. In fact, they could hardly keep up with me! In the streets, the pick up is perfect and powerful. But of course, it depends on how you shift.

The perfect thing about the Jeep is its road capabilities. Even though I don't do much off-roading, I do enough during winter. On the year that I bought it, it snowed about 15". Guess what... My jeep was the only automobile in the streets. Of course nobody was crazy enough to drive that day, but that's what's great about a Wrangler- you can go crazy! The 4-wheel drive stuck to the road like a thong on a 400-pound fat guy. The following year, it snowed again, and all you can see on the road are my tire marks.

The Jeep Wrangler is awesome! Since I bought it in yellow, I've had so many compliments and head-turnings. You can fix it up really nice, but of course it will cost money. My next project is replacing the exhaust system and adding tubular bumpers.
