2002 Kia Rio 4 door

Summary:

Fun and small.. Ugly and expensive

Faults:

Fuel pump, though previously owner stated it had been done.

Timing belt replaced.

Clutch link leaking fluid.

Clutch dead.

Clutch assembly broke into pieces.

Lights turn off when right signal is turned on.

Hesitation while driving a steady speed, with pedal kicking back at you.

General Comments:

I just have no idea why it's much more expensive to fix Kia's than anything else I've driven. I'm disappointed that it takes $600 to replace a fuel pump, $700 for the clutch, another $180 for the clutch assembly.

At this point, I'm not buying a vehicle because it'll be cheap on gas, but something that would be much simpler to fix, and therefore, less expensive overall.

If your Kia Rio is even still alive after 8 years, it was one of the better ones made.

My friend had a Rio and it ended up at the junkyard pretty quickly, barely lasted 5 years.

These are disposable plastic garbage, very low shelf life!

Next time buy a real car, an older domestic one!

They are more reliable than the junk that is being produced these days.

2002 Kia Rio

Summary:

I will never buy another Kia or recommend it to anyone, not even the newer ones b/c I've lost trust!

Faults:

I've gotten everything replaced in the car from the timing belt, water pump, engine, brakes.

When the heat is turned on, the car slows down and then it squeals. If you turn the heat off, the car gains speed, squealing sometimes stops (dangerous).

Gas caps.

You name it, I've fixed it!! Still the check engine light is on!

General Comments:

I'm tired of putting more money into this car than what I paid for it, and I have to take the car EVERY MONTH to be fixed.

The car doesn't feel safe at all. When you get into it, you feel like there's something that's going to go wrong and your safety is at risk! Like today, Oct. 22nd 2010 at 8:35am, the car kept squealing and shut off.

Please help, I live at 27 Flower City Park Rochester NY. I don't know what else to do!!! The car is dead!

Sell it for whatever you can get and buy a REAL car. These are disposable junk, an absolute joke.

Get a used older model domestic or import that was owned by a senior and well maintained. A car like this is just unsafe!

2002 Kia Rio

Summary:

This car is great for someone who is looking for a reliable car that is inexpensive to maintain

Faults:

I had to replace the timing belt within the last six months (around 55-60,000 miles).

Paint on certain parts of the body has started to chip, crack, or wear.

General Comments:

I have been very fortunate to not have experienced any major problems with this car. It has been relatively inexpensive to maintain, is good for short and long distance travel, and is in overall great mechanical condition despite being almost ten years old. I would definitely buy another Kia.

The only downside to the car is the cramped, uncomfortable interior. It is not a car for someone who does not like small spaces, or who has a large build.

Also, the paint on the car is not in good condition, and will have to be redone for cosmetic purposes.

2002 Kia Rio Cinco 1.5

Summary:

Great little car

Faults:

I have to change the oil.

I have to put gas in it.

The car gets dirty.

I had to put on new wiper blades.

Had to put new tires due dry rot (age).

Had to change timing belt due to age, not mileage (myself).

New air filter (myself).

Everything works great.. Looks like new still.

Never went to a dealer for work or checks.

Still under warranty.

Yes it's a small, cheap car. I call it a Go Cart.

Bought it new at 10,500 cash.. How many cars can you buy cash out the door?

The car is used for long distances with a german shepherd.

General Comments:

This small car is great.
