2002 Kia Sedona LX

Summary:

Very poor service

Faults:

No heat was coming into the car even though we could hear the blower working. It happens sometimes, but not all the time.

When we took it in for repair, the mechanics could not find anything wrong with the heating system. We have had the car in to the dealer 5 times and it still isn't fixed. We bought the car in May, 2002 and started to have this problem in September, 2003. We might be driving along with the heat on and all of a sudden, there is no heat coming into the car. The windows fog up or frost up, so visibility is a big problem. We live in an area that gets a lot of cold and snow, so we need a reliable heating system. We also have a disabled child who cannot be chilled. KIA refuses to make this warrantied repair.

It wasn't until our fourth visit to the shop that we were offered a loaner to use for the week or so that our car was there.

When we took the car in for repairs to the heater the first time, they found that the transmission needed to be replaced. They did that work very quickly and with no questions. We don't understand why they won't replace the heating system.

General Comments:

We are extremely angry at KIA for refusing to make the necessary repair to the heating system. We are also angry at the dealer, who, we feel, should make this repair anyway. At least one of the mechanics witnessed the heater not working.

The excellent warranty sold us on this car, along with the low price. You get what you pay for. The service for this car is very poor. We will not buy another one.

The heating system and the transmission should last longer that a year and a quarter in a brand-new car.

2002 Kia Sedona LX Standard V6

Summary:

Very average vehicle; questionable value even at its discount price

Faults:

Within two weeks of purchase, the air conditioning stopped working completely.

The cup holder for front seat passengers broke within the first year, after minimal use.

The vehicle stalled and would not restart, which took the dealer three days to diagnose and fix.

General Comments:

The Kia Sedona has a poor turning radius.

It is a glutton at the gas pump.

Road noise is more perceptible in the cabin than when new.

2002 Kia Sedona EX 3.5 Liter V6

Summary:

An excellent bargain!!

Faults:

Arm rest on one of the back seats came loose and had to be re-tightened.

General Comments:

The KIA Sedona is an excellent van. We have had excellent service from it. They only thing we have had to do to it in 27,000 miles is change the oil and tighten one arm rest.

We bought the van because of it's low cost and because of the 100,000 mile warranty. We have been very pleased with it.

We love the options we have. We love the sunroof, all power options, and the dual sliding doors. All of the options are wonderful and work well.

We have gotten all of our service from the dealer we bought it from. It is Hudiburg Kia in Tulsa Oklahoma. They have been superb. We have been very pleased with them.

I would recommend this van to anyone who wants a low cost, reliable vehicle.

2002 Kia Sedona LX 6 cylinder

Summary:

Low priced, with little or no value after the sale

Faults:

Air conditioner went out at 25000 miles, and radio has blown out twice.

General Comments:

Poor gas mileage, sluggish on the start, handles very heavy. I wanted to trade this vehicle in this year for a pick up truck and couldn't even get half of what I owe on it from the very dealer I bought it from. I also made the mistake of buying an Optima this summer and had the rotors replaced the week after I bought it.
