2000 Kia Sephia

Summary:

My Kia is great!!

Faults:

I haven't had any problems with my car. I brought my car in Sept 2000 and have over 85000 miles on it. It has gone from NC to Fl, OH and numerous trips to VA. I tend to replace my tires every year, but that's because I buy cheap tires. I get 344 miles to a tank which is pretty good.

General Comments:

My car has required minimum work done on it. The most expensive thing I have replaced so far that was not normal wear and tear was a gas cap. My son lost mine and I brought one from Advance Auto, not knowing that it would not work. After 8 months my check engine light came on and it was due to the gas cap. I had to get a new one from the dealership and due to the diagnostic charge it ended up costing me $84.

Now my car is at the dealership due to a recall. I also had them check out a knocking noise in the engine. They say it's the pre-silencer (what ever that is) and will cost $350 to fix.

I would buy another Kia.

2000 Kia Sephia PS

Summary:

Good car for a middle income Mom!

Faults:

The transmission went when the car was just eight days old. I seem to go through a lot of tires. There were major problems just getting simple spark plug change. A wire broke and car was down a week waiting for a wire. The car uses a lot of fuel.

General Comments:

13000.00 is not a lot of money for what I refer to as a disposable car. I've had far worse luck with past cars I bought. I don't spend a whole lot of money on service. I take it to a local garage and am happy. The seats are comfy especially in the summer heat with shorts on. I find bigger tires make the car handle better. I probably would buy another Kia, but I would check out the fuel efficiency first. My only negative comment is in relation to the gas consumption. I have also heard this from other owners.

2000 Kia Sephia LS 1.8 gasoline

Summary:

Pretty good for 12G

Faults:

The seal on the front windshield came off after one year, the dealer promptly replaced it.

The alignment or something is very wrong right now. A very rough ride right now.

General Comments:

This car cost 12000 dollars brand new, and the cost of maintaining it has been almost nothing. I change the oil every 5000 miles, it gets about 28 miles to the gallon, but has now began to run very roughly and I may trade it in. It's probably only worth 500 dollars, which is bad.

2000 Kia Sephia Base 1.8 DOHC

Summary:

This car is a soorry sore excuse for an automobile

Faults:

First of all at 20 miles the transmission had to be rebuilt do too bad berrings. (so they say).

At 200 miles the clutch started slipping. And the tranny was leaking fluid.

At 200 miles the tranny was rebuilt again and twoo of the bolt hole had to be tapped because dealer overtightened and stripped them.

I have blow numerous head lamps (cause unknown.) (no not because I touched lamp with hands)

At 30000 miles had to get master cylinder replaced and power booster at 34000 miles.

Door handle broke off in my hand.

64,000 miles later my brakes again very bad, I called to get the parts so I didn't have to be taken to the cleaners by the dealer. And wouldn't you know it, All the brake parts are dealer only parts. I was going to replace the pads and shoes and flush the lines. Yeah right, 564.00 bucks later. It makes me so sick to know people actually can sleep at night ripping people off. I'm not stupid I know I didn't need new rotors and drums, give me a break. These people are a joke. But because my sticker had been over due they wouldn't let me take it. So I got the shaft. Oh well.

This car has been nothing but a complete headache. I guess that's what I get for thinking I could actually get value for under 10 grand.

General Comments:

On a scale of 1 to 10 for this cars value I give it a _10 and I'm being serious. Spend the extra 2 or 3 grand and get a chevy or ford. These imported pieces of junk will nickel and dime you to death. And the dealers will find every reason as to why a certain problem isn't under warranty. My best advice is you get what you pay for.
