Faults:

The power steering pump had to be replaced twice and is still questionably operating.

The driver's side window regulator had to be replaced.

General Comments:

This is a perfect car for your son or daughter or as a second car to run around town in. The gas mileage could be a little better for a small 6cyl. Overall, this is one of the best compact used cars on the market.

Faults:

Water pump at ~150k.

Alternator ~150k.

Cracked radiator in 1999 (mileage unknown)

Front seat side panel wore badly - was replaced in ~1999.

General Comments:

We've had this car a long time, so it is hard to remember all maintenance repairs many of which are expected (such as the alternator dying so late in life).

It is a 5-speed which is wonderful, but not the typical.

For the most part, it has required few major repairs.

Lexus dealership work is incredibly expensive.

The dealerships are great -- some even have internet access and other nice services as well as good repair.

Faults:

1.TRUNK WAS NOT BUILT RIGHT SO THE HINGES WERE REPLACED 4 TIMES. The trunk buckles open about an inch 4 months after the dealer changed the hinges. When it was no longer under warranty, they dealer would not change the hinge. I have seen this problem on other cars.

2, Sunroof was not used and it caved into the passenger compartment and had to be replaced at 50,000 miles.

3. Lexus-Toyota/Camry engine was well-maintained, but at 70,000 miles, a piston blew through the engine floor. Short block was replaced. The Toyota mechanic did not replace hoses. It overheated and ruined the engines one month later.

4. The overheating caused the radiator to go and eventually the transmission went.

WE donated the car to charity. What a lemon. We bought it from the dealer as a used Lexus company car at 17,000 miles.

Other people have had good experiences with LEXUS, but this car was a nightmare, an expensive nightmare because LEXUS repairs are much more expensive than most cars. My MAZDA GLC is still running well after 280,000 miles.

General Comments:

I would never buy a LEXUS again.

Faults:

Reverse Gear Worn Out - Entire transmission dismantled to fix reverse (due to front-wheel drive) - cost $1,850 to fix.

Blew Exhaust Pipe From Manifold To Catalytic Converter - cost $350 to fix.

General Comments:

This car is flat-out dope. I bought it for 4500 and even though I have had to put a lot of money into it, it's been completely worth it.

Car handles great, turning radius isn't very sharp though.

Very quick acceleration, fully loaded, black with chrome details.

The thing is a Lexus. Enough said. I am 21-years old and I own a Lexus. I love it.
