1986 Lincoln Town Car 5.0 liter V8 302

Summary:

A big comfortable fun to drive luxury car with tons of features at a cheap price

Faults:

New exhaust manifold and radiator.

Brake hose had a leak and was replaced.

New gas tank.

Rear passenger window motor stopped working.

General Comments:

Rides very smoothly.

Digital clock goes out sometimes, but, comes back on when you bang the dash.

Seats are very comfortable and have no tears.

Does not go fast around corners due to its size.

Very comfortable for long drives and reliable.

An eye catcher due to lots of chrome.

Lots of features for a 1986!

Very roomy car you feel like your sitting on your couch driving or riding in this car.

A lot of times doors don't open from outside.

Gets about 15 to 17 miles in the city and 21 to 25 on the highway.

Overall a good reliable luxury car at a low price.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Tony is a GM dude. Suburban or Escalade for him. Perhaps even a Yukon XL Denali.

Uncle Corrado Soprano Junior, however, was Lincoln guy through and through. Even when he was already approaching life's end, Uncle Jun still roamed around New Jersey in his black 1995 Town Car Signature Series way into 2007.

BTW, today is the 10th of June 2026. Today marks 19-years since the last episode of The Sopranos was broadcast. What a wonderful series. Still quotable to this day. The Sopranos definitely stood the test of time.

R.I.P James Gandolfini (18/09/1961-19/06/2013).

P.S: Dominic Chianese (24/02/1931) is still alive as of 10th of June 2026. Uncle Jun outlived Tony. That's crazy...

1986 Lincoln Town Car Cartier 5.0

Summary:

These are the only vehicles I'll ever own

Faults:

The driver side back window does not roll down and the rear defroster doesn't work, but I've never seen a mid eighties lincoln with one that works.

General Comments:

My last car was an '81 and my next will be an '87 maybe.

These cars are god's gift to us, every body should own one.

It even has the original floor mats with the Cartier logo on them.

The digital dash and message board was a head of its time.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Oh please... the Town Car was and is a Crown Vic/Grand Marquis with some styling changes and added electronic crap.

One that is now 19 years old has all the cachet of an empty coke can.

You're thinking about much newer Lincolns. These Town Cars were bigger, offered more interior and trunk room, and featured a ton more standard features and options. Not only that, but a 1980s Town Car looked far more commanding and elegant than the Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis. Today's cars are the ones that are rip offs of each other.

I donated my fathers estate white 1988 Town Car to Goodwill. Worth around 500. I drove it on a limited basis. Very wide and hard to park. Fuel usage was high. This was in 2007 when gas prices kept climbing. He had to replace all the fuel lines due to corrosion. It was all original except for the wide clear bug screen added on the front. Not a car for everybody.

We also donated his daily driver (a Corsica). Another car with minimal value, but it benefited a charitable organization. None of our immediate family was interested at all in the 2 vehicles.
