1993 Mazda B2200

Summary:

First car and keep it for a long time

Faults:

Guy I bought it from said it came with good tires so I figured I was good for another 30,000 miles. Nope, right front tire gave out, but after putting goo into it, I was able to go another couple of weeks. The truck is like Christine, man, just ran on that tire for weeks. I brought it into Pay-Less Tires and the guy couldn't believe that I had been running on that tire for so long.

Needless to say, there was never a breakdown. My truck pulled me through until I got him (that's what I get from the vehicle; not a she) in and got the tires changed.

Engine light came on at 60,000 and there's nothing you can do about it. I bought the oxygene sensor myself, saving $60, but my mechanic couldn't change it out; it's a special Mazda only tool. Took it into the dealership, and they were cool about putting in the part that I bought.

Problem is that, weeks after the garage thing took place, they sent me a notice telling me that more work had to be done to my vehicle. Never did say what that was. I forgot it and went on with my truck, purring like a kitten.

Haven't had any problems since that 60,000 mile check up and I'm on 75,000. So what was so freaking urgent?

General Comments:

Man, I love this truck. It's cheap and it's pretty. Nothing you can do for performance enhancements, but it never, ever goes wrong. Keep up with the regular maintenance schedules and you got it. I think that this will be a truck that will be missed - just because it is so maintenance free. You got this little monster that will help you move, pick up a bed or a table, or zap you up into the moutains. Little cost at all. Drop a couple of 75lb bags of sand into the back of the bed and you're good for snow.

What do you say? There aren't many vehicles that get that much respect. Problem is, with this little truck, there aren't many who have owned one.

I have one of these trucks and I think its the best thing I have ever owned. I bought it with 165,000 on it and it ran awesome. Now it has 170,000 and is still going strong. I will keep it until it dies. But by the way its running now I don't think it ever will. these little power houses can take a beating. I take it off roading and I fly around on the streets. when winter comes along it handles the new england snow with no problem. Want to get another one and make into my custom low rider with a Chevy 350 engine.

1993 Mazda B2200 Regular Cab 2.2 fuel injected

Summary:

My best investment

Faults:

I have had nothing go wrong with this truck.

General Comments:

This truck has been the best investment I have made in my life. Just with regular maintenance (oil change, tune-up, tires, etc.) this truck just keeps running and running.

The bench seat that came with the truck was uncomfortable, I changed it with bucket seats I got at a local junk yard.

I could have used more power, but with little modifications (K&N filter, Flowmaster, etc.) there was enough power to do anything I wanted to do.

It looks good, runs good, is cheap to own and is very reliable. If Mazda was still building the same truck, I would have bought it in no time.

1993 Mazda B2200 2.2 gas

Summary:

Just awesome!!!

Faults:

The electric fuel pump went at 90k, cost a lot because it was only used for one year ($750), dealer only item.

Brakes done at 100k. Front rotors need to be pressed off. Had to call the dealer to find this out after some very heavy pounding. Dealer pressed off for free.

Seats and carpet did wear fast.

Check engine light came on at 90k, also because that is when the timing belt is to be changed, once again Mazda dealer killed the light for free after I changed the belt.

General Comments:

This truck was my little hauler/sports car/hot rod, it did it all. It only let me down once (fuel pump), never should have sold it, but it did go to a good home. I see it every day and I kick myself every day for letting it go.
