1993 Mercury Tracer 4 Door Sedan 1.9 liter

Summary:

Great reliable transportation

Faults:

My Tracer has not had anything over $400 in repair at one time just recently I replaced the mass air flow sensor and the car still runs like new.

General Comments:

This is my second Mercury Tracer I use it for work and back and drive another car for leisure, but both my 95 and now 93 tracer has been a great car I would have course would like to have had more horsepower, but it is definitely one American car that I know is worth the cost.

1993 Mercury Tracer 1.9L

Summary:

Great Inexpensive Car

Faults:

The first week I had the car, I had to replace the thermostat. (Simple and easy)

About 1 1/2 months later, we had to change the head gasket. (The cost of a new head gasket, and other seals and gaskets that needed to be changed was only about $150 TOTAL)

General Comments:

This car is the first ford product in my family. This is my first car, I am 16, and I love my mercury. It burns no oil. The gas mileage is amazing. It gets about 25 MPG in the city, and about 33 MPG on the highway.

It has NEVER stalled on me, always reliable. It gets me savely to my destination.

It is only a little four cylinder engine, but it KICKS.

The interior of the car is nice. Not a single rip or tear on the inside.

When I bought the car, about a week later I put in a new CD/FM/AM radio. It was the easiest installation I have ever done. The old radio's face plate just pops off.

I have owned it since Feb. 17, 2006. And as of May 6, 2006, I had put 1,572 miles on it. It runs great.

I also own a 1993 Mercury Tracer and it is my first Ford product. I've owned it since March 30, 2005.

This has been a great reliable car.

The only thing to go wrong was the heater core went out.

Not very expensive to fix---$180 for parts and labor.

I've had the timing belt replaced as part of routine maintenence. On these cars the timing belt operates the water pump so my mechanic recommend replacing it along with the belt. Cost of timing belt: $20 Cost of water pump: $40

Labor charge: $150

And I've changed transmission fluid once and the oil changed every 3,000 miles.

That's it. And I've put 20,000 miles on this car since owning it and mine has 250,000 miles on it now!

I've never had a car that is more dependable than this one.

And my Tracer's interior is good also.

I own a 1993 Mercury Tracer, 136,000 miles, and this car still runs like new. I had to replace a mass air flow sensor, which cost $200 including labor, and the interior is like new.

I replaced the speakers and soon will upgrade the stereo.

This is one great car - I have had it since new, and used it as a secondary car, and it has never once left me stranded.

I love the car. In 2 years all I had to replace is a motor for my air conditioner.

I have had my Mercury for a while and I will never buy another ford product in my life, this has been the worst car I have ever drove!!! 1 year old and still runs like a ford, crap!!! I have replaces the thermosate and head gaskets and battery, and lots of other things and still dies on my after 10 minutes of driving!!! I get the worst gas mileage in town and highway, in town 12 on highway 19. I don't know about you, but all fords I have owned are pieces of crap!!!
