1993 Mitsubishi Galant ES 2.0L

Summary:

Comfortable, but I would not buy a Mitsubishi ever again

Faults:

The air conditioner stopped working, I must recharged the freon every month.

The transmission slips from 2nd to 3rd gear, I do not know what is wrong with it, from the research that I made I think its the solenoid. Or maybe the computer that controls the transmission needs to e replaced/repaired.

Water Pump completely broke down, leaving me stranded on a Sunday night 20 miles away from home.

The drivers window works hard to go up or down.

The electric antenna is not working.

The engine computer brunt in three different places, I had to replace it.

Fuel economy leaves a lot to be desired, I average 20 mpg, my old Cherokee 4.0L 5spd. did better sometimes.

It feels like you are driving a tank, it feels heavy you have to press hard the pedal to keep up with traffic, and that makes fuel economy worse.

The cruise control works whenever it feels like it.

General Comments:

Comfortable, it rides great, the seats are soft and cushy for long trips, there is almost no noise inside.

I bought this car from a retired lady that got it new and did not drove it much, I checked the mileage on car-fax and everything was fine, the car looked/drove great when I got it and the history of the car was marvelous, I don not know where I went wrong... maybe I got hosed.

I got it mostly to escape from the medieval commodities of my '87 Suzuki samurai, but I wish I could have it back, did not have a/c, but at least was reliable and fun to drive.

1993 Mitsubishi Galant

Faults:

Absolutely nothing, except the wires in the drivers side door. They have broken twice. They have been causing problems when they short out the clock, automatic seat belt, dome light or the automatic door locks.

General Comments:

My other car is a 1990 Galant. I won't own any other make of car as long as Mitsubishi keep making good cars.

When my kids were 16 to 20 years old I also owned a 1989 Mirage and a 1993 Mirage.

No problem with any of the cars.
