1989 Nissan 240SX S13 2.4L

Summary:

A good car to add parts on

Faults:

Some of the rubber pieces started to dry rot (fixed), a somewhat rattle to the engine, digital speedometer doesn't show (tell by RPMs), replaced fuel injectors, few electrical problems.

General Comments:

Car runs great, with some work done to it. Fast on corners and good start off acceleration. Interior is in great condition.

For the size of the car and size of the engine, the car has some unremarkable speed. Good for beginners.

1989 Nissan 240SX XE

Summary:

The best present I ever had

Faults:

I bought it without any reverse. All the other gears work, but the reverse gear was blown. 1st gear was hard to use unless you were at a dead stop.

The front speakers are blown out.

My driver side brake light like to act up once and awhile.

General Comments:

This car took me awhile to get. I was waiting on the guy to sell it. He told people he was selling it, but when I called him he told me no. But he sold it to me when he blew out the reverse gear. But I aint mad, as I've got a 240sx and all the other gears run fine.

I just cut the spring on the 240sx, and I can break it loose easier now, but I have a bumpy ride when I drive around, but I'm not mad.

The interior is clean and I have the projected speed gauge stocked.

I'm going to have so much fun with this car, but now I have to replace all the tires because I wore out all four or them in two days.

1989 Nissan 240SX

Summary:

Ahead of its time..

Faults:

Clutch went at 8 years and again at 16, not bad.

Seats are good, but the edges on the driver from getting in/out are crushed.

Back seat belts are useless, but the back seat really isn't made for passengers.

Can only carry one passenger in the back for long distances.

Headlights are exposed and get broken easily. Always carry a spare bulb.

General Comments:

Pick-up, acceleration are great.

Drives defensively as it can stop on a dime, or accelerate and steer out of numerous situations.

Love the coupe style feel, and the clean dash detail and the sunroof.

Purchased originally in 1989 as it was truly 'Form Follows Function'. No detail was superfluous.

Clean lines and Champagne Gold colour are easy to keep clean and looking sharp.

1989 Nissan 240SX 2.4 KA24E

Summary:

Nothing else compares to this RWD dream

Faults:

ERG

Running rich

Front caliper slide pins

Right rear axle seal

Slave Cylinder leaks

Exhaust rusted out, replaced completely

Window regulator broke, needed replacement.

General Comments:

Beautiful car. Car was rusted and needed a lot of help. Toyota dealership had all rust, dents, everything removed and included new fenders and everything, repainted, looks new. People often guess what year the car is and guess 2001 etc. It is way ahead of its age and has been very reliable despite the things that have gone wrong.

The car is quick, but not a real competitor if that is what you are looking for. Would recommend getting a 91 and up just to get the DOHC version. More power and better gas mileage. Also heard of less problems with the KA24DE. If you want a serious competitor, the SR20DET swaps right in and has much more potential for serious power.

If you have winter conditions, you are absolutely going to need winter tires. RWD + all season + snow just doesn't mix to well.

Feels great to drive, everything you need is right there in good places so you don't have to fiddle with dials and what not.

Excellent vehicle, I will not give it up for a very long time.

Does the '89 have wishbone / shocks or multi-link / strut suspension?

1989 Nissan 240SX

Summary:

Fun car to drive and nice looks, but sucked in my money

Faults:

My head gasket blew after only driving it 4,000 miles.

The drivers seat is worn out.

Drove it into a pole, coasting, and dented very easily.

I had to buy a whole new brake system.

Idles very high, my mechanic couldn't figure out why.

Lousy gas mileage.

General Comments:

I love driving this car, especially when it comes out of turns.

Even though the back seat is silly, I still fit 5 people in it to drive 3 hours.

I'm a young girl who drives this car, so it attracts many guys to look at it and ask to drive it.

I had to put a lot of money into it though, so I'm getting rid of it.
