Truck is a beast off road, beats toyotas and jeeps all the time.

The motor is a workhorse.

Pulls 31's no problem.

1985 Nissan 720 Pickup single cab SB 2.4 liter Z

Summary:

You can't go wrong with this one

Faults:

Replaced center bearing at 127000.

Replaced battery at 136000.

Replaced wiper blades at 136000.

Replaced turn signal relay at 128000.

Replaced fuel pump and filter at 135000, not the truck's fault. The filter was long overdue for a change.

Bench seat is coming apart at 126000

Replaced oil pressure sensor at 136000.

General Comments:

This truck is built like a Sherman Tank. The drive train is nothing short of bulletproof. I have had nothing negative to report about the engine or the transmission. 137000 miles and purrs like a kitten.

The Interior is plain with no fancy amenities, which only adds to the truck's amazing reliability. Nothing to break is a good thing in my book.

The bench seat is my only major complaint with the truck. It is uncomfortable and is coming apart at every seam.

I own a 1985 Nissan 720 pickup. It now has 201000 miles on it and I bought it brand new. Other than tires and batteries, I have only replaced a relay for the electric fuel pump. The relay is underneath the passenger side dashboard. It has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It is still running strong even after having gone through a brother, and three of my young boys.

Hector.

I own an 85 Nissan 720 Truck. This has to be the most trouble free and reliable vehicle I have "EVER" owned. It has 152,000 miles on it, and so far has only gone through 2 water pumps and just recently it's first alternator. I do get asked to sell it all the time. It's never going to happen. My truck will get new paint in the next few months, and I plan to drive it another 10 Years at least.

I would drive this truck from coast to coast in a heartbeat. I know it would get me there. It has NEVER failed me. This truck is immortal.

It's been 9 years since I made that comment, and I'm still driving the Nissan. It is STILL running like a clock and my daily driver.

I have since replaced the radiator, it was probably time after 26 years. Other than that, nothing really has gone wrong with it. Still my most reliable vehicle.

Thanks for the re-posting! Tomorrow, I am going to look at a 720 truck with a bad motor problem, for sale for a song. ALL the rest looks to be a cream puff, so I was looking to see if people in my shoes would fix the motor. I think your comments put me over the line. So thanks!

I had a Datsun 620 pickup that literally rusted away from under me. It was an amazing workhorse that gave great service. I am looking forward to the 720...

1985 Nissan 720 Pickup d 2.4 liter

Summary:

Low cost, high efficiency

Faults:

I've had to change alternators regularly.

Problems with carburetor, choke sticking.

General Comments:

This is one of the most reliable trucks I have ever driven. Its good for off-road, but I'm sure the 4x4 model would be a little better.

It is still a very reliable truck and a good first truck.

1985 Nissan 720 Pickup King Cab DX 2.4 Carb 4-Cylinder

Summary:

Good transportation truck and light hauling

Faults:

The Carburetor had to be replaced when I bought it.

It needed new Tires when I bought it also.

I have had Electrical problems with the instrument cluster (Nothing major though).

I have had to replace the alternator at 200000 miles.

The A/C Compressor is currently bad on the vehicle.

The Transmission had to be rebuilt at 246111.

Engine had to be rebuilt at the same time as the Transmission.

The Shocks had to be replaced at 210000 miles.

The Front End (Steering) had to be replaced at about 215000 miles.

The Recliner mechanism for the driver's seat is stripped out (it is being held up by an old milk crate).

The interior is in a bad state of repair.

The truck got wrecked (and repaired) at about 244000 miles.

General Comments:

The truck has been in reality, even though the truck has had to have a lot of help in getting it back up to good running shape, a very good truck for me. The only thing that I don't like is the gas mileage that I get (15 miles to a gallon).
