2003 Nissan Altima 2.5

Faults:

I purchased a 2003 Altima (like new) in Nov 2006. I keep up with all my servicing. But only a week after I completed my oil change and 360 check with my local dealer, my car would not start! We were eventually able to get it started by pumping the gas then holding the pedal to the floor. I thought this was an isolated problem, but after reading the comments posted by other frustrated owners I quickly see that I am not alone : (

2003 Nissan Altima S 2.5

Summary:

Excellent value for style and performance

Faults:

Pin hole leak in the radiator.

General Comments:

I bought this car as a previous Honda owner, and was I surprised when I did the test drive comparison to the Accord.

Very peppy with acceleration.

Braking very solid.

I love the 17 inch tires, as they give a much smoother ride than the Accord.

I love the interior and the styling of it.

The only problem has been that there was a pin-hole leak in the radiator at about 45,000, but I purchased the extended warranty and it cost me $25.

2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S

Summary:

It sucks so bad

Faults:

I bought my car brand new and after 60K miles I had problems with the car. I had the cat replaced and I still had problems. I have been into service my car so many times for the same problem. The car makes noise, it stops, etc. I am having the cat and engine replaced right now and I am waiting to hear from Nissan. I have been told that my car has over 80K miles so they cannot help me and my vin number is not included in the recall. I am sick of Nissan and I will never buy another one. I would love to be included in a class action suit. I feel that Nissan should pay me for the repairs, and rentals. This car was poorly built and Nissan knows this. Anyone who is considering buying a Nissan should really think it over. I hope Nissan pays everyone for the damages, but I am not sure. Good Luck.

I have an 04 Altima and suffered from complete engine failure, previously I also had trouble with the catalytic converter like you.

These common problems were mentioned in the reviews, which I never read prior to purchase.

I usually read reviews before buying other brands but I have always been loyal to Nissan (my previous car was a 98 Altima which ran perfect!) and the 4 other vehicles I owned from them were problem free, so I bought without thought.

I will give Nissan another try, but will be reading and doing research first!

2003 Nissan Altima

Summary:

Average car with less than average reliability

Faults:

Center console latch has broken so console won't stay closed.

Engine will stall at idle or while driving.

Difficult to start engine at various times.

General Comments:

Overall the car has held up pretty well with the major exception of the engine randomly quitting on me and the fact that it won't start every time. I live in So. Cal. so the temperature is not an issue. Dealership told me that there was an "ECM" recall that might be the problem and that I had a faulty "Cam sensor" and faulty "Crank sensor" and it would cost me $205 to replace. Sounds like other people are having the same problem??

2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S 2.5L Gas

Faults:

Crank Position Sensor failed at 30,000. The engine shut off without warning three times in one month while my wife was driving in traffic. Luckily, she was able to avoid collisions and injury. The Nissan service department knew what it was without even diagnosing it first. This should be a safety recall as it was for the 2002 Altima.

General Comments:

This has been a good car otherwise with no other problems so far.
