2000 Nissan Cedric Base 3.0 V6
Summary:
An average vehicle that doesn't quite make the grade
Faults:
- Brakes constantly squeak.
- There is noticeable tire wear, which is surprising.
- The stereo system doesn't recognize the cassette player.
- The speakers had to be replaced upon purchase.
General Comments:
Though it is a fairly capable automobile, this vehicle is not suited to flat American highways. Considering how rare they are in the U.S, it is pointless to search the far ends of the Earth for a merely average automobile.
On the plus side, the car is fun to drive despite its underpowered engine. The styling makes the car look like it came from planet x, but that's not very important to most consumers.
Bottom line: go buy a Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord and live a trouble-free life.

I am familiar with the Cedric range of Nissan cars; comparing an Accord or Camry to a Cedric is like apples and oranges. Camrys and Accords are medium-sized garden variety family cars. A Cedric is more of a large car (by Japanese standards),like a Toyota Crown is Toyota's big car. Performance really does not seem to be the main concern for the Cedric, just space and a bit of luxury. If you need a powerful and luxurious big Nissan, the Infinity M or Q range would be just the ticket; Lexus LS or GS range are an excellent Toyota alternative; Honda doesn't even come close in my opinion; Acura included. A Camry or Accord would be more comparable to a Maxima or Altima. The '95 Cedric (Japan import) I had in while in NZ was as capable as I could want.

Maybe the person he bought it from brought it from a foreign country... lucky him to have such a rare car.

I am considering to buy a used Cedric 1996-2000 Model that has a 3.0L Engine (preferably turbo). If you don't like your 2000, I would be interested in taking it off your hands.
BTW, if you are having noticeable tire wear, is it because your car is lowered, thus causing the tires to rub the wheel well & causing the brakes to squeak? I know I might be helping you fix your car in a way that you will like it more, which is less advantageous for me, but that's how I roll.
I look forward to buying this car that looks like it's from outer space.

I remember the very first Nissan Cedrics. We had a 1963 Cedric Deluxe, purchased new, here in Australia. It had a "square" shape- very similar to the Mercedes of the day. The motor was 1900 c.c. and 4 cylinder, and the transmission was 4 speed with a column shift. The Cedric was very well appointed, and was a real luxury car at an affordable price. I don`t remember any major problems. It was at this time, that Japanese cars made such a huge impact in the Australian car market- and have never looked back since. I have always had a soft spot for Nissans. My daughter currently owns a Nissan Pulsar 1600 sedan- it has been thoroughly dependable!
