1989 Nissan Hardbody Pickup SE King Cab 4x4

Summary:

I love this cute, dependable, mint old truck

Faults:

Rear wheel bearing.

General Comments:

I love it! The previous owner kept it in a garage and took it out for hunting season. The interior is mint! So easy to get into for old bones. Drives like a champ.

1989 Nissan Hardbody Pickup SE 3.0

Summary:

If I can get running, GREAT

Faults:

I bought a donor car and it was in bad shape. I made the decision to fix all needed things and the list adds up to over $10,000 so far, but I have to say I love the truck, it has all options and some I added.

Nothing wrong here, except after the last trip to the tune wright I can drive it great until it heats up, then it acts like it's flooding out and makes weird noises and just runs rough, and most of the time it just stops and I have to wait until it cools off and it will go again. Tune has cost me so far over $900.00 and they are working on it to fix it (no charge). It has the 3.0 engine with plenty of power and this is a new wrinkle. Has anyone had this problem?

Beautiful truck with new paint, grille, lights, carpet, stereo, all rust removed, tires, auto tranny with cruise and over drive, etc. Love the truck, just want to get it running right.

I have it running now and put another $2,500 in but everything works, LOVE IT.

1989 Nissan Hardbody Pickup Standard Cab 2.4

Summary:

This truck is amazingly dependable

Faults:

The alternator went out at 150000; also brake master cylinder about this time, with thermostat.

Front rotors and pads at 220000. Plugs and wires around this time and distributor cap.

No major problems have ever plagued this truck.

Engine fan replaced due to age cracks.

Aftermarket low restriction air cleaner and no cat converter helped a lot with power.

Front frame rail bent due to collision, but drives good.

General Comments:

This truck is reliable and durable with minor rust in the bed. The ability to start in cold weather is good and interior comfort is average. Lots of solar melting on dash, but I try to cover it now. Never hauled heavy items, but it feels like it would; towing a fishing boat is a breeze.

1989 Nissan Hardbody Pickup

Summary:

WOW

Faults:

Had to replace the fuel pump, and put on a new set of tires. Other than that, all I've done is general maintenance.

General Comments:

I bought the truck for $200, it has been very dependable. I even ran over 4 wild hogs at the same time standing in the middle of the road. I swear the truck came up on two wheels it hit so hard. I pulled over on the side of the road to check out the damage that I was sure was going to be horrendous, but to my surprise no damage. These things are tough.

1989 Nissan Hardbody Pickup 2x4 short bed

Summary:

Sweet

Faults:

Not much.

General Comments:

73k original miles. No major repairs. Been parked outside in the Carolina sun for its entire life, and it's almost 2-tone from the fading, and the UV/heat has done a job on the plastic in the cab.

One minor ding from a tree falling on it, never wrecked. Original bedliner. Never driven more than 100 miles at a time, and it's never seen snow or salt.

I need to put some TLC into it, get a good look at the steering arms, and do some normal engine maintenance. I plan to drive it from SC to NY this summer. This little truck has never let me down.

1989 Nissan Hardbody Pickup D21 2.4

Summary:

Great truck. Better than my Ranger

Faults:

Needed tires, instrument cluster and fuel pump sending unit. Could not tell I was getting low on gas until the light came on.

General Comments:

The truck ran great.

A little rust above the gas door.

Wrapped the truck around a telephone pole 2 weeks ago on Monday and flipped it. Pushed the front right tire into the fender well. Crawled in it that Friday after the wreck. The truck started right up and still went into gear and moved.

How was it "better" than your Ranger?
