2014 Nissan Maxima S

Summary:

Impractical, unreliable

Faults:

Left front driver's window regulator got rusted inside the door. Steel line rusted and broke, and the window fell down. I had to remove a door panel and use a wire to hook up the window to get home. It looks like the rubber sealing doesn't keep water out and all the water goes inside the door. The door got rusted inside too. This is a one year old car. I think next year rust will go outside because the metal is too thin.

Hydraulic power system went out today and I had a hard time to get home, particularly into my driveway. There is a considerable noise from the power steering system under the hood, but I don't know what that is. I took a look inside the oil reservoir and oil is moving as normal, but doesn't produce any power.

Doors from time to time don't open; it looks like electronics fail when the outside temperature drops below -10C.

Plastic around the front wheels is falling out and I have to push it back every morning.

It is hard to start the engine when the temperature drops below -10C - black smoke is produced like from an old diesel, but when I put the car on a plug during the night, then it starts normal in the morning.

General Comments:

Looks good. Cheap plastic.

Gets rusted too quickly.

Driving in winter conditions is terrible.

Poor visibility from inside of the car, particularly when parking in limited space.

Difficult to park due to the car's size, and the wheels don't turn like they did in my older Maxima.

Electronics fail from time to time. Disconnecting the battery helps. 290HP doesn't produce such power as was claimed. My old Nissan Maxima 1996 with 195HP did better.

The worst part that I have two cars of this model in my driveway. Another one is a 2009. It has a check engine light after I changed wheels with winter tires and it doesn't go away for a third month. How do wheels correlate with a check engine light? I don't know. I'll wait for springtime to make a decision about whether to keep them or to get rid of them.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know
