1990 Nissan NX2000 2.0L TwinCam

Summary:

Little pocket rocket that needs lots of love and care

Faults:

Rusts on A-pillar, around rear wheels.

Rear brake calipers!!! I had to replace them twice already. Exhaust pipes are all redone including flex-pipe, resonator pipe, mid pipe, muffler ($800).

Engine performance gets very low unless you maintain it constantly. Fuel Injection problem.

Antenna is not working.

Side of driver seat gets worn down easily and need some repair.

General Comments:

Little pocket rocket!! but it will burn your pocket!! Maintenance cost is relatively higher than any other cars I drove. Although I like the performance I don't think I will buy another NX2000. Nissan really need to do something about their calipers, which is a constant problem with other Nissan models. Shift is sweet and engine will perform nicely if you really take care of it and loving it. I guess I didn't love it enough. Pretty cheap compare to other cars in the same class.

Wouldn't worry about buying another NX2000. Since they were only imported into the USA for 3 years, chances of finding another one are slim. Too bad, what a great car!

1992 Nissan NX2000 1.6L

Summary:

Good little sports car

Faults:

Clutch, wheel bearings, CV joints, tires, struts... but I bagged the hell out of it.

General Comments:

I payed very little, expected little... but got a lot. Made me want to deal with Nissan further. I drove this car to hell and back and it has remained a very reliable automobile.

You made a mistake on the type of car. If it has a 1.6L engine then it is NOT an NX2000 it's a NX1600. The NX2000 has an SR20DE engine the NX1600 has a GA16DE engine. I suggest you swap the 2.0 engine is really fast and easily modifies.

I have owned an NX2000 since it was brand-new in 1992. It continues to serve me brilliantly, and remains as spunky and fun to drive as it was when it was new. I love this car and have no desire to replace it.

1991 Nissan NX2000 2.0

Summary:

A high performance bargain

General Comments:

It is really fast, due to it's light weight. The power curve drops extremely once a higher gear is reached.
