2000 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.6

Summary:

I will never buy Nissan Car

Faults:

It has been more than four months since Nissan first tried to repair my sentra 2000. It took four months to wait for parts ecm. Now, Nissan is telling me that they still can't fix my car.

General Comments:

I want my car fixed. But, I can't accept that they are taking forever to fix it. They want me to pay for that besides all my inconvenience.

2000 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.8 liter

Summary:

Not worth the hassles

Faults:

At 41K miles, my car quit running while in motion due to a sensor recall that was not corrected prior to my purchase.

Took care of wheel recall at same time, which included replacement of all 4 wheels.

At 43K, my air conditioner stopped blowing cold on the way home from the other coast. The hoses froze completely and thermistor controller had to be replaced. The part was under warranty.

At 59K, the car developed a very rough idle and began jumping and eventually stalling at traffic lights. Car would not stall with A/C running. Dealer replaced a mass air flow sensor, that should have been covered under extended warranty, and a idler pulley and compressor belt that would not have been covered under extended warranty.

At 70K, CD player has decided to only work when it feels like it.

At 79K, the battery completely died, the service engine light is on for a bad intake air temperature sensor, and the transmission has been acting sluggish at various intervals, even though it was serviced a month ago.

General Comments:

The car is great when it doesn't have a problem.

Gas mileage is wonderful.

I have had more mechanical and electrical problems with this car in 2 years than any car I've ever had.

Local dealers are not cooperative at all with service or warranties.

My 2000 Nissan Sentra also stalls when at stopped at lights - or slowing down toward them - didn't start til 130k, but becoming increasingly worse / more frequent.

When I purchased the Sentra the gas tank was installed backwards so it was back in the shop within weeks - should have been a sign of things to come!

My cd player also works very sporadically.

4 recalls later still driving it, but will definitely go back to being a Toyota driver with my next car.

2000 Nissan Sentra SE 2.0L

Summary:

The SE is the best Sport car for your money

General Comments:

Very dependable car. Engine has a timing chain instead of a timing belt that needs to be replaced every 65,000 miles. After 70,000 miles the interior is very quiet.

2000 Nissan Sentra GXE 2.0 liter 4 cylinder

Summary:

Solidly built, well appointed, dependable vehicle

Faults:

The mirror remote control switch broke off and was replaced by dealer under warranty.

The battery died after 3 years and was replaced by dealer under warranty.

General Comments:

This was a solid, reliable car. It was tight and rattle free.

The car had excellent engine power and even with the automatic transmission, there was plenty of getup and go.

This car didn't feel like a small car. The interior appointments were well done and the car felt very roomy. Compared to other small cars I have owned, this one felt and drove much bigger than it was.

My only complaint was the gas mileage. I felt the average for city driving was a bit low at 24 miles per gallon. The highway mileage, however, was excellent. We averaged 40+ miles per gallon on our trip from Texas to Virginia.

The only reason we don't still have this car is we traded it in for a 2003 Nissan Altima. We wanted a car with more room, power, and luxury.

2000 Nissan Sentra

Summary:

A good car for an affordable price

Faults:

About a week after I bought the car I began to hear rattling on the right side of the car. It was the brakes.

Also, on the left side of the car it looks like the bumper is hanging off. It was popped back in place, but now it looks like it's hanging again. I'm going to have someone look at it soon.

General Comments:

I love my car. It may be because my last car was a 1991 Ford Probe, with no air.

It drives good.

The above problems are minor because they can be fixed under my warranty.

It is the perfect size for me and everyone says the car 'looks like me'.

I would recommend a Sentra to anyone.

But if you live in Indianapolis go to a Nissan dealer.

I went to Tom Wood Ford and the sales people sucked. Although the service people are cool.
