2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V 2.5L

Summary:

Should have bought a Chevy!!!

Faults:

I bought my Spec-V brand new with 30km on the vehicle. At the time I worked at a GM dealer as a mechanic.

After buying it, I started to hear some bad things about these cars. After about 8 months of owning the car, I got a job at a Nissan dealer as a mechanic.

Wow, what a mistake this car has been. At 88,000km the transmission was completely rebuilt, it would grind when shifting into 3rd. Then after a year long battle with Nissan, at 128,000km the engine was replaced due to the common catalytic converter defect. I will never buy another Nissan product again. I could think of at least 1 car I should have bought instead, but it was only a 5 speed, should have bought that car regardless of the number of gears. That car is the Cobalt Supercharged.

I can say 1 thing is for sure... my next car is a Chevy, and it's gonna have a small block V8.

2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V

Faults:

I used to like this car a lot when I first got it in 2007.

It had 52k miles on it, and seemed good. Since then the car has needed a wheel hub replacement.

It's starting to rust on the hood.

My SES light has been on for over a year.

There has been a rattling noise that comes from the engine.

The worst part is that I am still making payments on this car until August 2010. I am currently trying to sell this car to any of the kids around my neighborhood. Hopefully they will take it off my hands.

2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V 2.5L I4

Summary:

Very fun, very fast, very good car! When it runs

Faults:

I am a very big Nissan fan, after a lot of my friends had SR20DE swapped 240sx, and my brother has owned both the B13 SE-R and B14 SE-R, then my dad bought a B16 SE-R Spec-V. So I thought it would only be right to have owned them all, so I went a bought a B15 SE-R Spec-V.

I absolutely loved the car!!! It felt very good to drive, the suspension is unbelievable!!! The gear box felt pretty good, but could have been better, but I do LOVE the 6 speed, and the body is gorgeous!

I then began to met other SE-R owners, and that's when I was reminded about the problems B15s get. I had done research on them a few years back, but had forgotten. My motor began to knock and that's when it all went down hill. I still drove the car, not knowing exactly what it could be. People told me that it was a bent rod, but it still had correct compression and didn't lag when I gave it gas. I did the research again and then my motor blew. The problem was the butterfly valves in the intake manifold.

General Comments:

Basically an AMAZING car if you know the butterfly valves and pre-cat are not going to cause you any problems.

Suspension is awesome! It handles very very very good!

The 6 speed has a good gear ratio and shifts pretty nice.

For a car that has 175hp and 180 ft lb of torque, it is very very fast. It only weighs 2700lb!

2003 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.8

Summary:

Fast little car

Faults:

I don't understand the people on here, the ones complaining about the Nissan Sentra.

In Latin America and in the United States, it's the most reliable car over Honda and Toyota. I'm a mechanic, and I have owned Nissan since I was 12 years old, I still have a 1984 Sentra with 2 million miles on it, have driven it to Central and South America more than 50 times.

The newest one I have has 130,000 miles, and the only thing I have replaced since I bought it in 2003 is a single ignition coil for 1 of the spark plugs that roasted, and since it was made out of cheap plastic, I replaced it and have never had any problems..

Toyotas and Hondas do not have the power Nissans do. Early preventive maintenance people, learn to do that to your cars, and you will never have problems, don't wait until the last minute...

General Comments:

Great car, hauls ass, reliability 100%.

Just bought me a 2008 Titan, awesome truck.
