1990 Oldsmobile 88 4 door sedan V6 3.8

Summary:

Soulmate.

Faults:

Apparently before I got it, the only things done were a new alternator and new brakes. Looking at the car, this is quite believable.

Speakers apparently blew sometime before I got it to. I blew the last one the day I got it.

I had to have a new belt put on to bypass the air compressor, as it is just, well, it's trash.

New alternator at 226000 miles. That was a great night.

Driver seat has 1 slight sign of wear, other than that, it looks new.

Original tape player was complete trash. Replaced with some other tape player.

Doesn't like to idle when cold.

Hood latch is funky, and hood won't stay up for anything.

Sometimes dies when coming off the interstate into slower traffic.

General Comments:

This car cost me $200. I expected it to last about that many miles. I'm not sad to say it's lasted much longer.

I love this car, and would probably sink money into it before I'd get a newer car. It's insanely comfortable, fairly powerful, and it just has a cool feel to it.

I use it mostly for interstate travel, and it gets so-so gas mileage. It handles extremely well above 70 mph, although it shakes a little around 85 if you're not accelerating.

It could be pure speculation, but this car doesn't seem to attract speeding tickets, honestly. Cops just keep driving when you pass them at 90+ on the interstate.

Ya, I love my Oldsmobile.. but it recently got hit by a drunk driver, and they wanna give less than it's worth. It was a 90 and only had 79k miles on it.

Summary:

I love it

Faults:

The center console that folds down falls back too far when it is flipped up.

The windshield wiper arm broke one month ago, but I live on the Oregon Coast and it rains all the time so it gets a lot of use.

General Comments:

I bought this car for $800 used from a co-worker whose grandmother bought it new and passed it to him. It was very well maintained and had many of the records with it. This car has not had one single mechanical problem since I bought it.

The car has good speed, excellent handling, and was well worth the money I paid for it.

Summary:

LOVE IT!

Faults:

Well, I have not owned this car very long and I love it! It's very clean for a 1990 car. Only that's wrong at this time with the car is the trans is leaking from the trans pan gasket easy fix!...

General Comments:

This car is very fast and rides so smooth down the road. I have not had it very long to really enjoy this car, but I bought it because I knew I got a great deal on it. This car has some little rust spots from the michigan's winters, but other than that its sound. the int is super clean. I got it from a guy that traded it in for a new car. He said that it was a nice car. But it handles like a dream.

1990 Oldsmobile 88 Royal 3.8

Summary:

A really fun and fast beater!

Faults:

Tires, tires, tires. To be expected after sitting at a used car lot for over a year.

Next is the transmission; problems from the get go. It slipped real bad from first to second, then second to third. I then tried a bottle of Lucas trans fix. It helped, so I tried another bottle. This means it's almost perfect.

Water leaks, soon to fixed.

General Comments:

This car was thrown in on a trade for my truck. It had sat with transmission troubles. The guy that owns this dealership won't sell anything that has major problems. I bought it just to drive back and forth to my kid's bus stop (trying to keep mud out of our van). But, I have learned to really like this car.

It is very fast, although it looks like it's ready for the junk yard. Maybe I'll leave my truck alone for a while, and play with this one.
