Faults:

My passenger window fell down in the middle of winter. The regulator, which is a small plastic piece that holds the window, snapped in half. Luckily knew someone at Speedy Glass and got it fixed for $160; normally would have cost me 300. Next week the driver's side one went.

You can feel the transmission tugging when going into ND gear.

Rear defrost doesn't work, and A/C and heat don't work.

ABS and traction light go on constantly.

When it rains really bad, I find even at full speed it doesn't quite do the job with good wipers.

General Comments:

It looks nice, and is generally affordable to fix.

It has the need for speed.

Backseat is very small, as well as the trunk.

Faults:

Replaced water pump and belt at 120,000 miles.

Replaced intake gaskets at 150,000 miles.

Replaced alternator at 180,000 miles.

Likes front brake rotors and pads too much!

General Comments:

Has a lot of power from the V6, and decent mileage.

Handles really well, and I like the look of the car, inside and out.

Faults:

The driver's side window and the back right passenger window do not work, and are being held up by duct tape. The others are sticky when you try to raise or lower them.

The signal blinker has a mind of its own. It randomly clicks when you drive.

In cold weather, it enjoys stopping without warning.

The fan had to be replaced at least 4 times.

Several problems with power steering.

Truck does not latch properly.

Brakes had to be replaced several times, especially when the car was first purchased.

Fixtures like to fall off, including the light on the ceiling, which is now duct taped up.

General Comments:

Seats are comfortable.

Rides fairly quiet for being over 100,000 miles.

Faults:

I've changed my power window motors twice, both in the driver's door, one year apart.

Had to get a new head gasket over a year ago. Now the oil is sitting in the holes where the screws are.

Had to change the front wheel bearings, brake pads, rotors, calipers and some of the seals are broke open I noticed.

Let's see, just put a new battery in it, and now I've got that damn battery light popping up at least once a day. Thought it was cuz I needed a battery, but still does it, so I thought maybe the starter had a bad connection; checked that, it was fine so I changed the alternator, nope, still does it.

Besides that, minor things like I fixed both door jams and quarter panels because of rust, which is now coming right.

Back speakers blew and my leather seats fell apart worse than a pleather jacket.

General Comments:

DO NOT BUY ANY OLDSMOBILE ALERO!!! Nothing but problem after problem. You fix one thing and another thing happens.

So you might be saying, yeah, it's a car, they break, well look around on the web, I bet that 90% of these people all have had the same exact problems.

I've spent more fixing the car than I paid for the damn thing. Honestly, consider another car, coming from a very unsatisfied buyer.

Faults:

Power rear power windows quit working. They are easy to repair, almost always a broken "regulator", which is track, motor, and cable assembly. 55.00 ea + 10.00 shipping at a place called "upanddownmainstreet.com" - the cheapest I found. They arrived within a few days, and although I'd never changed (or seen) one, replacing them proved to be a simple process with just the use of a screwdriver and a small socket.

General Comments:

The car is reliable.
