1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible 3.1 V6

Summary:

Nice car and an added plus with the convertible

Faults:

Replaced the digital climate control unit at 130k.

Rear strut broke at 125k.

Various hard to get to bulbs burned out.

Alternator went shortly after I bought it including the water pump.

General Comments:

A nice handling car with the 16 inch rims and the stabilizer bars.

Convertible top down with the roll bar looks better any American made convertible.

Will kick any Chrysler Lebaron or Sebring!!!

Large car with ample passenger room.

This car does not look like it has the miles on it. Very reliable and sporty.

I get comments all of the time that people have never seen one, maybe it's rare?

1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass SL 3.1 multi port FI

Summary:

A fine American motor car!

Faults:

My tires needed replaced at 3000 miles of ownership, and also my brake pads.

The engine developed a slight tapping noise due to a worn lifter, some 20w50 weight oil fixed it up and made it a bit quieter.

The exaust manifold crossover pipe developed a leak, which made the engine a little louder.

General Comments:

This car is very dependable. Has run since I have had it without a problem at all in the engine, other than slight hesitation due to a bad PCV valve.

The car has run great with only simple maintenance steps (oil changes, tune up, etc). I think the 3.1 is a great engine.

1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera S 3.3L pushrod gas

Summary:

A reliable, stylish, comfortable highway cruiser and a performance bargain

Faults:

Alternator belt broke.

Alternator needed to be repaired.

General Comments:

This car is extremely reliable. It has had only 2 repairs in 8 years.

It's relatively quick and has fabulous passing power. It's engine never seems out of breath.

The interior is great. The seats are extremely comfortable for trips long and short. There is plenty of space, and the controls are easy to use.

The exterior styling is conventional, and clean-cut. I like it.

Handling and braking are excellent.

Ride is relatively cushy and comfortable.

I love this car! It's the best thing we've ever owned. She's 9 years old, but she can still sing.

1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SL 3.4L V6

Faults:

I purchased the car with 88K miles.

92K: Alternator died. With 3.4L this will cost about $500-600.

96K: Radiator developed a crack between the coolant core and the tranny core, tranny fluid in the coolant is a bad thing.

100K: Some sort of observation cap on the engine block started leaking oil, still does.

108K: Timing belt broke. Again, on the 3.4L this is costs about $1000, luckily its a non-interference engine (no valve damage will occur)

115K: Alternator died again.

General Comments:

Would I buy for Olds again? NFW, I may never buy another American car.

What on earth did you do to this vehicle??? I've had my 92 cutlass for years, with 105000 miles and NEVER had a problem other than replacing the altenator at 70k, quite common on most cars.

Really, I have a 1992 oldsmobile cutlass supreme sl, with the 3.4, and the car has 118,000 miles on it, and it still runs like a champ. I have never had to do any major work on the car, other that replace the windshield a couple times, and change the oil every 3000 miles. I love this car!
