General Comments:
After driving this car, you will never go back to driving anything else. This car handles amazingly. It's like nothing else I've ever driven. After driving a Volkswagen GTI VR6, a Passat V6, Saab 9000, and an Audi, I can say that this car handles the best of them all. For the price I cannot think of a better car.
The 16 valve 150 HP engine likes to be driven hard, high up in the revs. The powerband is really awesome in this car from around 3500 RPM all the way to 7000. My only complaint is the amount of low end torque this car has. It is very fast if you are at the right RPM.
The engine has been very reliable to me.
The Mi16's came with all sorts of options as well. Such as: Leather, power windows, central locking, heated seats and a power moonroof. For exterior the Mi16's had fog lights, different wheels, and a rear spoiler. The car is quite good looking, and still looks like a very modern car.
The seats are first class. They are very comfortable. The cabin is very nice, but the build quality is questionable. The car seems to rattle and creek quite a bit.
The 405 handles like it's on rails and has great power. It is a rare car in the U.S. that stands out just enough in the crowd. Go with an Mi16 for the pure driving pleasure. I could not go with a better first car.
The only thing with these cars is they should be maintained well, or else you start to encounter problems.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Anyone who says Peugeot's problem in the US is reliability is either seriously mistaken or has never driven a car of this brand.
All Peugeots sold in North America, from the 403 to the 405, were quite reliable and durable cars.
The main problem of Peugeot (and the rest of the French brands) was its dealership network. Peugeot struggled to establish and maintain a comprehensive, trustworthy network of dealers in the U.S. Inconsistent or temporary dealer presences damaged consumer trust and brand loyalty.
In the 1970s, the 504 was on par with the Mercedes W123 or the Volvo 2-series. In the 1980s, the 505 was much prettier than many Japanese and German cars of the era. And the 405 you have has a brilliant, timeless design.
Volkswagen in the US has much uglier cars than Peugeot (and no more reliable ones), but they did sell their product better.
