1998 Plymouth Breeze exspresso 2.4

Summary:

Wasn't worth the money after all the problems

Faults:

My had gasket blew at 90,000 miles. Which was 2 months after owning it. that cost $900.00 to fix.

A cylinder was bad on the drivers side, so there was oil in the spark plug chamber. that cost me $200.00 to fix.

I got the car fixed and now it is back in the shop (4 weeks later) at 105,00 miles with possible "jumped time".

General Comments:

This car is very reliable when it isn't in the shop. Although once on thing goes wrong, everything will go wrong.

Car does good going fast. No shaking, or anything of that sort.

The manual doesn't lie when they say something will go out at certain miles. It has been right on the money every time something has went wrong.

1998 Plymouth Breeze

Summary:

Great car for the money

Faults:

The oil used to leak, but has almost fixed itself. I used to have to add a quart of oil every week and now I only add one every couple months.

My head gasket hasn't gone yet, but I really think that they should recall this due to all the people who are having problems.

General Comments:

I love this car. I bought it used for a great deal. It drives well, is very roomy and isn't full of problems. (knock on wood) I would definitely get another Breeze.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

1998 Plymouth Breeze

Summary:

Good on gas, nice to drive - but???

Faults:

The car has a had a few things go wrong that surprised me. The right front strut had to be replaced at 8000 kms, our streets are rough so the problem may be related. Another odd thing was the air conditioning condensation line blocked and caused a pool of water to for under the passenger seat. Like many other owners, the head gasket went with 50,000 kms and coste 1100,00 to replace. The mechanic that installed the new gasket indicated that this is a common problem and Chrysler has a new design that should resolve the problem. Most recently (65,000) I had to have the brakes done, both front rotors were warped and had to be replaced along with the brake pads - another 350.00 touch. What next? The car has coste me about 600.00 in repairs annually. Another issue was the OEM tires, the car was dangerous on ice and snow, not sure if its the cab forward design or lack of anti-lock, but driving the car with OEM tires in winter conditions was a white knuckled event. Winter tires have resolved the problem.

General Comments:

The car is comfortable to drive, handles well with adequate power (I never thought a 4 cylinder would work for me).

The interior is roomy - family of 4 and lots of room in front and back.

The car looks good, decent appearance good visibility.

Great on fuel, I have managed 40 MPG on the highway.

I know that my breeze is not good in the winter. Did you get the winter tire that you can only use six mths out the year?

I have a Cirrus (one of these triplets), my friend has a Stratus, and my girlfriend has a Breeze, and we all agree that they are horrible in the winter, even WITH winter tires.

The headlights are terrible for strength (even without foggy-ness) but everything else is pretty cool about them, the Breezes don't seem to be built as well as the Cirrus' and Stratus' are... weird! But good cars, especially on insurance!!!

I have a 1998 Plymouth Breeze Espresso with maybe 140,000 miles. I love my car. The only thing I have to do is have some body work done where my car has rusted through at the bottom of the doors. The only problem I've had with my car is ball joints. If that's all I have had to do in 11 years, I consider myself lucky.

I will be very sad when I have to give the old girl up. Another thing I have noticed about the Breeze is that you very seldom see one at a used car lot. My car still runs fairly decent and probably would run better if I was more consistent with it such as oil changes, flushes, etc. Thank you from a Breeze lover.
