1993 Plymouth Colt 1.5 single inline cam

Summary:

A bargain car that will last a lifetime

Faults:

When I purchased this car, the passive restraint seat belt on the driver side was not there. The mechanic had taken it out because it had problems.

The idle while braking or sitting still is a bit rough sometimes, but that's a four cylinder 1.5 for you.

The seats are a plastic/rubber material, and were quite worn. The windows aren't tinted so the sun glared down on the seats.

General Comments:

This car is pretty fast.

I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. and its cute!

1993 Plymouth Colt 1.5

Summary:

A simple and reliable car that looks good

Faults:

I had a small problem with the rear driver-side signal light wiring the first year I owned the car.

The front seats have started to wear around the seams.

The car burns about 1L of oil every 3000 kilometers or so.

General Comments:

This car has given me virtually no problems. It is very quiet, even at high speeds. It has more power than one would expect from the engine size, helped along by the manual transmission.

The body is modern-looking (the precursor to the Neon) and the interior seems spacious.

It has no frills, which is what I wanted in a car. This is a simple, reliable, attractive car.

1993 Plymouth Colt 1.5

Faults:

Brakes (1x), tires (1x), battery (2x), both shoulder belts (recalled).

General Comments:

My mom has owned this car since new and has replaced very little. She took it off the road two years ago and I am driving it now that I have turned sixteen. This car is extremely basic (no air, cruise, cassete, power steering or even a cigarette lighter), but I have great plans on fixing it up (CD Player, wheels, etc.)

The 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder engine is very powerful for being so small. The gas mileage is excellent and I'll never have to worry about it leaving me stranded. The only time the car ever stalled was on our way from NY to Maryland. Everything died including the engine, indicator lights, radio, etc. We let it set for a minute and it started right back up and hasn't done it since. It's been a great car and I plan to keep it all through high school and college.
