1995 Plymouth Neon 2.0L SOHC

Summary:

Great student car

Faults:

-new ball joints needed up front, due to previous owner's driving habits.

General Comments:

Awesome commuter car for a student. This car gets me from point A to point B with excellent fuel mileage, and the comfort level is actually fairly high for an economy car. The engine is fairly quick, and will handle city driving like a charm. Handling is very good, and braking distances are fairly short. Only complaint I have is that there is no shifter-mounted lights, so you do not know what gear you are in at night (fairly easy to fix)

1995 Plymouth Neon 4 door

Summary:

Pretty nice car

Faults:

The speedometer works only when it feels like, but my uncle figured out what was wrong - the connector was getting bad, so he tried to clean it and it worked for a while, but it needs to be cleaned better.

The seal on the engine seal axle block is bad, and needs to be replacef. Leaks oil just a bit and engine fluid.

Other than that, it runs good most of the time. Hills and busy intersections stink with the car.

General Comments:

I like the car - it handles corners and roads well. It's comfortable, for riding in.

1995 Plymouth Neon Highline 16v SOHC 2L 4-in-line

Summary:

Best car ever!

Faults:

Head gasket blew at 150,000 (which was normal for the Neon's).

Starter went at about 170,000.

The original clutch just went at 229,000 miles.

Speedometer went at 195,000.

Radio went at about 197,000 miles.

General Comments:

Its been EXTREMELY reliable and still goes like the day we bought her.

We also have a 95 DODGE Neon. and that's been nothing, but trouble pretty much, but still its over 200,000miles and I have noticed that the Plymouth Neon's seem to last longer (without as many problems) than their Dodge counterparts so if your gonna buy a Neon, go Plymouth.

Methinks there is something rotten in Denmark.

The Neon is a horrible car. My sister had one and it fell apart by the week.

And I find your review highly suspect when you tell us that you bought a ONE year old car with 50,000 miles on it.

To the person above. you must of gotton a bad Neon or just a poorly maintained one, cause I have a 97 Neon with over 190,000 miles and still going great!.

1995 Plymouth Neon

Summary:

Cheap, dependable, not the most comfy car in the world; good for those of us under 40

Faults:

I have had my Plymouth Neon since 1996 (it's a '95 model). It has been pretty much awesome. Yes, I have some paint peeling problems (but it's ten years old!) and, like I've read in other's complaints, the speedometer works when it wants to (but I can feel how quickly I'm going by what gear I'm in). I've never had a problem with it until today. Went to go to work and it wouldn't start. I am a high school teacher and am poor as all get out and I hope it's just the starter (as my kids assured me when I described the problem to them). I got lucky...I've read, for the past few years, horror stories about my car. I do get ticked off about the fact that the controls in the cabin have been cracking / falling off for the past few years, but since I've put, probably, less than $300 bucks in this car since I got it (less oil change / lube job expenses), I don't feel like I should complain. This baby drove me up and down all of Virginia two years ago when I was even poorer than I am now and was looking for a job. I like my Neon; let's pray that tomorrow (when I hear from the garage) that I still do!

General Comments:

Fun to drive. A bit too low to the ground. Shocks way gone. Can feel every bump in the road. No problems with clutch or transmission after nearly 100K miles. Gas mileage awesome. I don't have a problem with trunk leakage. Controls in panel start breaking after about 6 years. Radio still works. A/C needs freon every two years. Brakes squeal like crazy when wet, but work.
