Now 2006 and this car still is a pleasure to drive. With upgrades like vented disks, 11" drums, A518 TF, rear sway bar, modern shocks and tires, the wagon is safe and reliable. The warmed up (built for torque) 360 gets 26 mpg on the highway and can show it's tail too many a a "performance" car half it's age and twice as expensive.

If you don't have the ability or desire to work on old cars then newer is the way to go.

For me, just not seeing myself coming down the road all the time is reason enough to drive it, not to mention the attention this Sky Blue wagon generates. Chrome bumpers, steel wheels and round headlights are COOL!

Summary:

This car made me a Mopar fan

Faults:

The only thing that has gone wrong with this car is a bad battery terminal that acted like a bad starter. I spent 100 dollars in order to find out that a bad battery terminal that costs 5 dollars was the only problem. That was my stupid fault.

General Comments:

Good power, very very reliable, decent gas mileage, and hey it's a Mopar so it's awesome.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have owned many Volare's in the past and in the present. You can't buy a better car at any price. May Volare's prosper now and in the future.

Faults:

Bought car with 21,000 miles, gave up at 53,000 miles. Constant electrical problems, (at least 15 alternators), oil pump at 35,000, distributor at 41,000, radiator at 42,000 and electrical problem for the LAST TIME at 53,000, I abandoned the car.

General Comments:

After owning this wretch of an automobile, I can tell you why Chrysler nearly went under. The engine sounded like a sewing machine, and had about as much power. The wiring was a nightmare, I would fix one short and another one would magically appear in its place. The A/C would spit water on the passengers, and make the car overheat.

On a good note, although gutless, the slant six engine was virtually indestructable. No oil pressure? No problem! No water? No problem! Even if it locked up, I just had to let it cool off, and away we went!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I have a 1976 Volare coupe. It is a fantastic car, 318 cu. in. gives great gas mileage on the highway, 25+ MPG. The car only has 85000 miles on it and I now only use it in the summer. The body is perfect, it is painted an unusual black and spitfire orange combination (factory colours).The interior is white bucket seats, AM/FM radio, fold down rear seat, sport wheels and mirrors. A great car that has never given me any problems.

My family had a '76 Volare station wagon, Slant 6 engine with a 4-speed, and even thought it had high mileage and was bought second-hand, it was a very reliable car. We also had, subsequently, a '79 and '80 Volare station, each with a Slant 6 and automatic transmission, and both of those cars were equally dependable. Perhaps those cars, which were 10 years old by the time we got them, were the survivors and the lemons were culled out early on. My family had such good success with Volare station wagons that even today I wouldn't be afraid to pick one up if I needed a daily driver.
