1988 Plymouth Voyager SE 3.0L V6

As tough as nails

Faults:

Transmission started to slip at 180000 miles; replaced with re-manufactured unit.

General Comments:

Easy to work on.

I'm a technician of 22 years and do all repairs myself. Only one surprise breakdown in ten years: ECM quit when parked at a drugstore. I plan on driving it till it falls apart.

1988 Plymouth Voyager SE 2.5 EFI

Summary:

Who says mini-vans can't be cool?!!

Faults:

The van was handed down from my parents and has been a good vehicle. A head gasket was replaced about a year ago. My Dad and I recently had to replace the K-frame and right control arm. This was not a vehicle related failure. A road that's in the process of being paved had the manhole covers sticking up too far and hit the K-frame. No big deal. $175 for used parts and free labor. My Dad works at a dealer and he and I went in on a Sat and had it all back together in about 2 1/2 hours. If it was stock, this would not have happened, but I have one of the lowest minivans in my area. This thing is "slammed". The ride is a little bouncy, but it handles corners like a sports car.

General Comments:

As a rule, mini-vans are pretty boring. Not mine. It has a nice Pioneer sound system with a subwoofer and Pioneer dash speakers. And with it being the lowest one I've seen, it attracts a lot of attention. There is another lowered one in my ares, but not as low as mine. The interior is like new. My only complaint is the fading paint, which I understand is normal for a vehicle this old. It is also a multi purpose vehicle. A party wagon, a work truck for hauling my band's equipment, and a nice cruiser. MUCH BETTER than my Dodge 600. Hope to keep it until it hits 200,000.
