1987 Pontiac Fiero GT 3.2 V6

Summary:

Awesome little car!

Faults:

Shifter is pretty sticky; linkage too tight.

General Comments:

AWESOME LITTLE CAR! I call it my half Ferrari. She's fast and handles like a go-cart. The previous owner dropped a 3.2 V6 into her and man does she hum. Sounds like a V8 when only revved to 2500.

I love the interior, and to shift is very comfortable. I really enjoy the brushed aluminum accents. They go really well with black leather and yellow interior lights.

Throw a slick paint job on her, and some 17 inch rims with low profile tires, and she really looked like a mini Ferrari.

All around awesome car, wouldn't trade her for the world!

1987 Pontiac Fiero GT 2.8L

Summary:

Great sexy two-seater American car

Faults:

The engine turned very slowly when cranking it to start; also developed a leak in the passenger area (from heater) after only 2 weeks of ownership.

The poor starting was solved with a new battery, with more cranking power.

The heater core was replaced for just $100.00, and I did the labor myself.

General Comments:

This car was a show car. It was lowered by the previous owner who had it in mint condition. The paint is like mirror, the engine compartment is clean and it has all in place. The inside was reworked with wood-like panels, leather steering wheel, remote control door locks and trunk opener. In fact it is fully loaded; I won't ask for anything more, except for the air bags that new cars have. The car is fast and I have more fun than with my previous Pontiac Trans Am.

Aside from the initial problems, the car drives great. It has a less restrictive muffler which sounds much better, like a V8. It really turns peoples' heads and I am always being asked what kind of car is it. Nobody believes it is 20 years old. The ones that know GT Fiero tell me they always wanted one like it, but foud that Pontiac won't make them anymore. Others ask me if I want to sell it, and to call them and they give their phones to keep.

This car has a custom sound system, with large speakers behind the seats. I love everything about this car.

I own a Dodge Charger 5.7 L with 22" wheels and I get more people stopping by at my driveway and comparing them. They say that the GT Fiero is smaller, but has sexy looks and that they would drive it any time.

1987 Pontiac Fiero GT 3.4 ltr

Summary:

At least GM got THIS one right!

Faults:

Engine developed a knock.. replaced w/3.4 block.

Various electrical gremlins (headlights, relays, etc..) all easily repaired.

Replaced fuel pump.. done w/engine swap.

2 windshields replaced (keep you distance from trucks on HWY! Fiero's are VERY LOW!

Driver seat bolster wear.

Interior/dash trim warpage (common complaint.)

General Comments:

This is my 3rd Fiero and I can't imagine not owning one. I absolutely love the car and my girlfriend calls it "the other woman." I've had BMWs, Benzes and a couple of Caddys since I bought my 1st Fiero and it's the only one I wouldn't dream of selling. Presently, I've got the GT, an E-class Benz and an 84 Lincoln Mark VII (my winter car.)

If I have any complaint about the GT, it's foul weather handling. It doesn't like to be driven in the snow and the same thing that makes it great to drive on dry roads makes it a PITA on icy ones (low weight.) Other than that, no real complaints. It's probably the most selfish car for the money... you can't haul anything, but a$$ in it... just two bodies and a tool kit.

Great car. America's affordable exotic!
