2001 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 LS1 V8

Summary:

Screams modern Muscle car.

Faults:

I have had no problems at all. With 4,000 miles I would hope so.

General Comments:

If I had to describe this car in 5 words I would use Fun, Fast, Eyecandy, Rattlebox, and last Cheap (price of the car and build components)

Like any car it has its good and bad qualities. A potential buyer has to ask themselves what they want out of a car.

I wanted a performance car that would go up in value as the months roll on and the mileage stays low. That is what I have.

Things I would change if I where king at G.M.

1. For the love of god after 100 years of making cars can't they build one that doesn't sound like the dash is going to pop out over the bumps? (granted I drive on Michigan roads)

2. After you fix the dash can you make my motor not sound like a diesel when I first start it.

3. Um G.M. 1987 called they want there interior back for a sweet IROC-Z they are re-building.

4. The 6-speed gearbox is great to look at, but when you need to shift its time to concentrate and make zero mistakes or its Find Em Grind Em time. The G.M. engineers should shift a Viper through the gears one time.

5. The radio is almost as bad as Tiny Tim singing in the back seat.

As I read this it sounds like I don't like this car very much?

That is not true I love this car. I just wrote about my dislikes because it would have taken to much space to talk about what I love about this car. Its really quite simple Pontiac is driving excitement period.

2001 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 5.7L LS1

Summary:

Words cannot begin to describe the presence of this car

Faults:

Hatch release doesn't release easily. A weak spring is at fault, not the electrical parts.

General Comments:

Simply awesome! I previously owned a 1985 Trans Am. It was my first car and I loved it. It came time to get a new car and I decided I wanted to stick with Trans Am's since that's what I know how to drive. I found a 2001 WS6 and bought it the day I test drove it.

It's a excellant sports car. Its definitly the best bang for your buck car ever built. Its faster than most people can imagine. It will keep up with new vettes. GM underrated the engines. I had my baby dynoed after I bought it and it had 311hp at the rear wheels!!! And its bone stock. The ride isn't bad, on rough roads it will jar you, but a sports car suspension is supposed to do that. It can take turns at twice the speed normal cars. It will out accelerate most anything on the road. Passing at highway speeds is a breeze. Half the time it doesn't even need to downshift as it has plenty of power. The interior is nice. I like it. The seats are comfortable, the stereo rocks! As far as rattles, there are some, but nothing major. The traction control helps, it can be an annoyance, but it can be turned off.

Summer driving is the best of any car. Nice throaty exhaust note, t-tops off, stereo blasting, and looks that causes 95% of people to stare in envy.

Complaints: There are a few. The car loves to follow any ruts in the road. This can be attributed to the foot wide tires though, so its not really anything that can be helped. Anything with tires as wide as the WS6's is gonna have this problem.

When the windows are down and you close the door the window rattles and makes lots of noise, I get scared that I will break it. Something is loose somewhere I think.

If there is any unplowed snow, or if the roads aren't salted, you are going nowhere. If you have snow tires, you can get around, but I wouldn't recommend it. You'll be able to wake the traction control up in 3rd gear.

Cops. This car attracts attention from the cops like it's a massive doughnut. You are warned.

Bottom line is it's a great car. Simply awesome. It goes fast, looks great, and is very comfortable. It's a head turner, and it attracts the attention of the ladies away from everything else unless theres a prancing horse or raging bull on the hood.

GM needs to bring this car back!!

95% of people stare in envy?

You really believe that?

Someone is a hater, must be a Mustang owner.

The WS6 is fast, but not especially rare, so why would the reviewer think that 95% of people who see it envy it?

Any fool with enough money could go out and buy one. Case in point.
