2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Summary:

Comfortable and fun

Faults:

The only problem I've had with this car are the turn signals only work at times. This bothers me because I am a "blinker" person.

Have had no major problems with this car.

General Comments:

I really enjoy this car. it handles well. I perfer a mid-size vehicle. Good with gas mileage.

I owned a 1995 grand am (purchased in 1995). kept it for 7 years and traded for the 2001 I have now.

Strange thing, the turn signals did not work on the 1995 either, nor did they work on my daughters 2001 Grand Am GT.

2001 Pontiac Grand Am PIECE OF JUNK

Everything!!! electrical to manifold antifreeze leaks that leaks into oil even. this car is by far the worst car I have ever owned. I would advise everyone not to even think about buying one.

This is for those that think their 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT is a peice of JUNK as they say. I happen to own one. I bought it brand new with less than 5 miles on it. I have not had any problems other than my rack and pinion that was under warranty that was fixed. I still own this vehicle and it has over 110,000 miles on it. When I first got it I immediately changed the oil to synthetic and it has been great. I would and have recommended to other to buy a Grand Am and have not after thoughts about it.

Summary:

Love it.. wish GM would fix the bug

Faults:

There is a BIG problem with this model year's security system.. a bug that makes the car not start, without re setting the car's computer...

General Comments:

2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE 3.4, V6

Summary:

Very sporty and flexible on the road

Faults:

When I bought the car it had bad struts, so had to replace them, but twice - bad struts, not the car. Since then I have felt the ride better than ever, though it still is very road-sensitive. You can feel every bump. After that - changed intake manifold gasket since the coolant was leaking. The dealer guy said they always had them in stock, as it is a very common problem (quite pricey to change if not yourself). From time to time the car won't start - just "groans" and after a couple of tries starts. Quite frustrating. Must be the starter. Another thing have to check.

General Comments:

Frankly, it was the only car I wanted to buy - looks great and drives well. I tested four cyl. and wasn't impressed, but V6 - a different story. I picks up so fast - very impressive. The engine is "healthy" and sounds good! Not too bad on fuel - though could have been better, well, it is V6 after all. If I had to go through buying a car again, I would end up with this one again, although it is a pain sometimes.

2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE 3.4L V6

Summary:

Fun and hot

Faults:

Nothing has really gone seriously wrong with my Grand Am. The Service engine light has came on a few times. The first time it went out by its self. The second time it came on I brought it to Auto-Zone and they hooked up to their computer device thing and he said it was probably just the gas cap. So he reset it and it didn't come on again.

General Comments:

This car is very comfortable and fun to drive. It hugs the road well and has great pickup. My only issue or concern is that the ETS or traction control doesn't work very well, the tires will spin up to like 30 MPH before the traction control kicks in doesn't seem to do anything. Any one have any suggestions? Otherwise, a great car.

I have a 2001 Grand Am SE-1 with the twin-cam 4 and it is the best car I have ever owned. I traded a 5.0 Mustang in on this car and have really not lost that much in performance while getting twice the fuel mileage and a much better, smoother ride. Eve with the little 4-banger the grand Am will smoke the tires almost as far as my Mustang would, and yes, the ETC doesn't seem to help wheel spin a lot on mine either. I've blown the doors off cars with twice the horsepower, and in 50,000 I have not encountered even one problem. These are awesome cars. Too bad Pontiac replaced them with the slower, uglier and much more boring G6. Now I'll have to buy my next car from another manufacturer.
