2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE 1 V6

Summary:

Love it

Faults:

Strut mounts gone out twice and wind sounds coming from back passenger doors.

General Comments:

I love this car even though it had the few problems I listed it has been reliable and I love it.

Coming from a 4 cylinder car to the 6 cylinder I will never go back. This car going up hills does well and long distance traveling this car does well on gas.

In the city driving around with a lead foot on the other hand you watch the gas gage drop quick, but I love this car and I am thinking of getting the new G6 when I am done paying for this one.

Congrats on the Grand Am. My 2001 SE-1 has performed flawlessly (ZERO problems of any kind) for over 62,000 miles now. I love it. As for the V-6, my SE-1 has the old "Quad 4" which is a very torquey and super-responsive twin-cam 4. I have found it to be almost as powerful as the V-6 (though the later "EcoTech" 4 is much wimpier). The Quad 4's would definitely eat the 4-cylinder Escort alive.

My other car is a 2007 Mustang 4.0 and in all honesty I really enjoy driving my Grand Am better. It rides much smoother, is more responsive, and gets better mileage.

2004 Pontiac Grand Am 3.4

Summary:

It is a piece of crap

Faults:

First of all I have had to replace my window regulator several times because my window keeps falling down into my door. the clips keeps breaking, because they are made too cheap.

I have also had to replace my thermostat, because it was over heating.

I had to replace my battery because my altenator was sending to much voltage to my battery causing my battery to leak all of the acid out of it.

My transmission doesn't shift right, it is shifting too late.

My car sounds and runs like crap. I think it is my throttle body. I haven't got to check that one out yet.

General Comments:

The car looks good.

2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE V6

Summary:

I love this car!!!

Faults:

The only problems I have ever had was the weather stripping has came off, but it is easy to replace. I also had my knock sensor break, but it took only 10-15 minutes to replace. Also, the button on the gear shifter broke and I had to replace.

General Comments:

I love this car! It gets good gas mileage on the highway (28-29), and in the city (22-24). Other than the previous work on it mentioned, I have changed the oil regularly, and changed the transmission fluid once. I have put 105,000 miles on it because I drive it a lot. I take long trips and it does great. It is very comfortable for the size. I would not recommend it if you wanted something big, but for two people up front, and occasional passengers in the back, it is just great. It is very comfortable for long trips, and the trunk is hudge. The back seat, however, is small. I would definately recommend this car for someone who is not going to regularly carry multiple passengers.
