2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8 V6

Summary:

A good bargain for what you get from it

Faults:

Nothing as of yet.

General Comments:

This car is great as far as comfort goes. It spoils you with soft leather seats with a heated seat option, and heads up display. The power assisted steering assures you don't have to strain to turn the wheel at lower speeds, while keeping the rack and pinion sports handling feel.

It is quick for a heavy car, though because of the 225 lbs of torque, it can spin tires a bit too easily.

I took a GT out for a spin the other day. I was only able to break out the tires once, even though I took the turns at easily 15 kph faster than I would have dared in my Saturn, and I dropped the hammer at every set of lights to see how hard I could punch it. They only broke out when I was on a bit of gravel. How worn are your tires? If they spin too easily, they could be a little bald.

I've never had an issue with spinning the tires on the 2001 GTP. I guess it's the 40 extra HP on it, and I just put brand new tires on 3,000 miles ago.

2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.8 liter supercharged

Summary:

Excellent performance sedan for the money

Faults:

Nothing yet.

General Comments:

This car is a real head turner in dark blue metallic with high polish wheels.

Dealer did not order the wheels I wanted due to an obscure code requirement on the order sheet which also did not confirm the item by description.

Handling is crisp. The suspension is a decent combination of firm and comfortable. Variable ratio power steering with the large leather wrapped steering wheel is sufficiently "heavy" to give nice road feel at speed.

My only regret is that it is a CRIME not to offer a good 5 or 6-speed manual gear box with this car!

Yea, it definitely is a crime not to offer this car in manual. My friends always ask me if I got a 5 or 6 speed manual with this car, and I always have to disappoint them that it's an automatic.

2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8 V6

Faults:

Engine went twice, manual transmission once, and had just over 100,000 on it. Still looks good though.

General Comments:

Nicest car I've ever had. Also tested a 2001 Monte Carlo but couldn't see out when changing lanes.

Handles great and has great bells and whistles! I haven't found anything I would change so far. Worth the price!

Manual transmission??? They don't even offer a manual transmission!

2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8 liter V6

Summary:

Nice car - any safety inspections done at the factory??

Faults:

In the midst of rush hour traffic last night, after owning the car for all of 4 weeks the car came to a sudden stop with a loud clunk and started spewing transmission fluid all over the highway. Apparently some pin? had come loose and punctured the transmission, and now pretty much everything in the front end needs replacing. First time I ever saw a new car literally "fall apart".

Oh - and the heated seats don't work. But that's OK, because the car is at the dealers now, where it is nice and warm.

2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT Coupe 3.8

Faults:

Too early to tell but a few annoying things to report.. first the foot rest on the driver's side is too damn close to the parking brake. Can't position my foot right.

Cruise control lever hard to use if raining, because the switch moves as you turn your wipers on..

General Comments:

The car is very roomy, has excellent acceleration... 200hp... nice interior.

Heater controls and especially the defroster grid button are a little low on the dashboard.. but I can understand why everything can't be on the steering wheel. But the defroster button would of fitted nice next to the shifter lever... that's it for now.
