2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT Coupe 3.8 V6

Summary:

The Car You Wish You Had In High School..

Faults:

Headlight blew due to excessive moisture in headlamp, from a leaking gasket. Very annoying vibrating heat shield, seat belt sometimes fails to retract. Windows are going up slower everyday. Oil light comes on for about a mile and shuts off, window/sunroof sometimes hesitates to open/close, I think its due to a short from the headlight or something.

General Comments:

I bought this car in June as my first car. I really like the way I can take corners and accelerate quick while still getting good gas mileage. The lowest mpg I have gotten so far is 18, the highest is 24mpg. Car is very comfortable and it has a great stereo system. Sunroof is nice and big, and the seats are a little hard, but still supportive and comfortable. I might sell it to a friend who likes it more than I do, not that I don't like it, but just so I can get something better, I'm thinking a Pontiac Bonneville SLE/SSEi???

2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT SEDAN 3.8 series II

Summary:

Great looking running and reliable

Faults:

So far the car has not had a lot of issues. I love the car and its performance. It cost me a lot less to run it up and down the road rather than my 5.0L F-150. It is roomy and has a nice sized truck to fit my sub woofer and luggage if need be.

I have had some issues about a month ago I had to have a transmission put in it. I was having slippage when it was cold and then when it warmed up it had hard shifts.

The front struts are squeaking pretty loud also. Other than that no problems. I like the style of the car it is very aggressive looking.

General Comments:

Great car to have its very reliable and I would defiantly get another one if I was older and had some kids, but next car will be a Mustang GT or SVT COBRA.

2002 Pontiac Grand Prix 40th anniversary 3.8 V6

Most expensive piece of crap ever

Faults:

Everything has gone wrong with this car!! Last August it had over $9000 of warranty work done on it - everything from heated seats, ignition switch, fuel pump, suspension, water pump... you name it it has gone out... now its at the dealer again and they are saying another $6000...

General Comments:

Do not get this car it's not worth it!

2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 40th Anniversary L67 3.8 Liter V6

Summary:

The car is very nice, though the minor problems get on my nerves

Faults:

I have had the lifters in this car go out, and this car only has 81,250 miles on it.

Our window motors have gone out in 3 of the 4 windows.

When the dealer put the door cover back on, he put it on wrong so it rattles.

Paint chips on the hood.

Foggy Headlight after last washing.

Catalytic converter went out.

When the lifters started going out and the engine made a noise, the dealer refused to fix it and said they didn't hear anything.

Engine shakes in park at 4500 rpm.

Foam rings around the speakers in the trunk are coming off.

Seat cover is ripped (dad's fault) he had a screwdriver in his pocket.

General Comments:

VERY SPORTY CAR I have only seen 3 like it in 3 years.

It handles well, although when we jump-started my grandma's Oldsmobile and I revved the engine up to juice the battery, it was in park and it redlines at 5500 and the engine started to shake around 4500 rpm.

Handles like a dream.

VERY QUICK.

Lack of power...200 horses is pathetic for a v6 like that.

Interior is beautiful.

Very comfy and roomy... a lot of trunk space for groceries.

Future collector.

NOT a lemon just minor problems.

There is no need to rev your engine in park!

The 3.8L is meant to "only" produce 200HP. It's a good sized OHV engine with GREAT low end torque. It gets very decent gas mileage for its size and weight. It's not a technologically advanced engine, but I'd have to say it's one of the greatest engines of all time. I'm pretty sure they don't use this engine anymore, but they should definitely bring it back with direct injection, and a 5 or 6 speed automatic, and it would be unstoppable!!
