2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2 3.8 series 3

Summary:

The Pontiac Grand Prix and the sticker price both pack a punch

Faults:

Power steering pump leaking at 24,500 miles. which the Pontiac dealership replaced promptly exactly two weeks before the warranty expired.

General Comments:

My Pontiac Grand Prix GT2 has been an excellent car right off the lot. Traction control is very useful in the winter and will traverse icy conditions to a fair degree. Also had been very reliable vehicle.

Engine warm-up seems to take a little long, but with about 5-10 minutes of warm-up time in winter before driving works well.

The Grand Prix also handles tight curves at rediculous speeds!!

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2 3.8 Liter

Summary:

Handles great, comfortable ride, easy to clean and detail, fast!

Faults:

Needed a new wheel bearing hub at 35,000 miles.

Intake manifold is seeping coolant (not bad).

Drivers side seat -SIDE BOLSTER- already wearing.

General Comments:

Very comfortable.

Handles great in all conditions. Traction control is a real plus during the winter months with snow and ice.

Fast acceleration - very responsive.

The GT2 version, which I have, is the fully loaded version. Comes with head up display, heated seats, leather seats, and a sunroof. All are great.

I find the heads up display very convenient and the heated seats wonderful during cold months.

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8 Liter

Summary:

Very well equipped and comfortable! Worth every penny!

Faults:

Nothing so far! Everything works great!

General Comments:

I love everything about this car.

I recently bought this 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, I am really pleased with how comfortable this car rides. The seats are very comfortable, and they hug your body.

The handling of this car is also a plus. It handles great, the steering is perfect.

The 3.8 liter, V6 is quick and peppy. The gas mileage is as good as can be expected with a V6 engine.

I really love the interior of the car. The layout of the dash is really nice. I love the information center located in the center of the dash, which allows you to switch between different options, or to take a look at your mileage or the day's date. It's very unique and adds to the look of the dash.

The only thing I've noticed about my car, that confused me, was where the cruise control buttons are.. They are located behind the steering wheel, on the lower right, underneath the windshield wiper lever.

Other than that, everything about this car pleases me. It has enough room to comfortably sit four adults and the trunk is just the right size. I would definitely buy another Pontiac!

I've had absolutely ZERO problems with my 2001 Grand Am (I'm now at 55,000 miles) and I'm amazed at the quality of the newer GM cars. I'm looking at trading up to a Grand Prix in the future, as I don't like the new G-6. The Grand Prix is the sportiest 4-door car on the market today. I hope your Pontiac is as bullet-proof as our GM cars have been. My family now owns 4, including a 30 year old Buick LaSabre with 230,000 miles and a Pontiac with 250,000 miles.

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2

Summary:

Too many problems

Faults:

Electrical wiring for rear bulbs needed replacement when I drove off the dealer lot.

Rear windshield needed replacement as radio became fuzzy when turning on the rear defroster this was first discovered when winter came and I bought it in the summer.

Interior plastic piece where the keys hit fell off.

Interior plastic for the door handle on front passenger side fell off.

Big spaces in trim on the outside on the rear passenger side doors.

Steering wheel whines like crazy due to insufficient power steering fluid levels from factory.

Magnasteer needed replacement due to "clicking" of hte wheel at 53000km..

Now it's starting to go again at 70,000 km.

AC Compressor blew at 67,000km together with Battery failure.

General Comments:

I bought the car due to the incredible leg room in the vehicle and the nice styling. I know previous grand prix owners who loved their car.

I was incredibly disappointed with the built quality of the vehicle.

I am also disappointed in the lack of headroom. I have less than 1cm of head space when sitting upright and I don't have a tall torso (my height is in my legs)

Interior room especially for the rear is poor due to the aggressively sloped rear windshield.

You can definitely feel the road through the steering wheel and it's a very nice drive otherwise. I like the sporty feel of the vehicle.

I got the clicking noise in my Grand Prix 04. How much did it cost you to fix it?

I have a 2003 Grand Prix, and I know others with different years and models of the Grand Prix. It just sounds to me like you unfortunately dealt with someone who sold you a defective car. For the inside plastic pieces to just fall off, tells me it must have had some serious repairs done before, and obviously not properly. Pontiacs definitely come with their problems, but it's always in the transmission or motor. I have never heard of it being with the interior like that. Have someone knowledgeable and trustworthy look at it, and tell if there are any indicators it had been in any accidents before.
