1995 Pontiac Trans Sport SE 3.1 gasoline

Faults:

Gas pump changed twice, second time after 35,000 kilometers.

Rear door lock too easy to be break.

Air conditioning compressor damaged at 165,000 kilometers.

Alternator damaged at 118,000 kilometers.

Most parts of the front shock absorber and stabilizer bar.

Ball joint, etc. fail after 125,000km.

General Comments:

This is a big truck for the family, but too expensive to maintain due to the price of parts at the dealer.

1995 Pontiac Trans Sport SE 3.8

Summary:

Sure. But do your homework and see if it is right for you

Faults:

Engine rear seal went bad resulting in a slight oil leak (repaired under warranty).

Power sliding door did not operate. This was due to me leaving the interior lights on and draining the battery which freaked out the power module. Pulled the battery terminal and waited a few minutes, reconnected the battery and the power door worked fine. Killed a battery because I left the interior lights on overnight too many times :)

General Comments:

Had been a great vehicle for our family. Great power for a minivan and very comfortable.

No door dings in the body panels because they are plastic - car looks like new after 5 years.

I used this car to haul building materials AND paving bricks weighing over 1400 lbs (several times)!

Still a relatively quiet ride and solid. Very happy with this car.

Who ever filled out this survey, thanks a bunch. You just saved me from tearing apart the door, the wiring, and the back interior (which houses the power door motor). I was having trouble with the door not operating. Having found this survey reminded me that I had this problem before and it was related to the battery running down. Anyway pulled the negative terminal, waiting, reconnected and after a couple of pushes on the button, the door started to operate again. My thanks.

Had the same problem with the power door after the battery crapped out... Door wouldn't fully close or open, until the battery was replaced, then it worked fine, and has ever since.

1995 Pontiac Trans Sport SE 3.8 6 cylinder

Summary:

Disappointed

Faults:

I cannot begin to list the things, it would take too long for starters.

The tranny went the second week I had it.

Windshield wiper motor.

The back hatch knob on the outside broke off in my hand, could not use the back door at all.

Driver's door lock.

Sliding door leaks.

My latest is the cable to the gas pedal snapped??? Wonder what will be next!!!!!!

General Comments:

I like the look of the car but am beginning to think it is not safe. I have two small children, what if that gas pedal cable broke while driving down the highway (the car just died), what then??

I would not recommend Pontiac to anybody and if I overheard someone talking about purchasing a Pontiac I would butt in and tell them my experiences!!!!

1995 Pontiac Trans Sport

Summary:

The van looks good, but it doesn't give the buyer much peace of mind

Faults:

The van had to have an oil leak repaired which cost over $500.00.

Less than three months later, there was a problem with the intake valve.

The A/C sometimes would not work.

General Comments:

The Trans Sport was an impressive looking vehicle, it's extremely unreliable.

1995 Pontiac Trans Sport 3.8 6 Cylinder

Faults:

This car has been serviced many times. Most problems were in the first 2 years after I bought the van. It had an electronic defect, the motor on both windows has had to be worked on, the back glass leaks, and it had a leak in the windshield wiper fluid tank. It also had to have a new gas tank installed.

General Comments:

I probably would not purchase another transport but would consider another model from this manufacturer.

I have a question that pertains to the 1995 Pontiac Transport. Can you explain why the check engine light comes on and then if you turn the engine off, the check engine light goes off, but if you are driving around it comes back on again? We have had our Transport serviced at least 4 times within the past 5 months and the dignostics testing comes back saying to check something else, but yet the other test comes back okay. Can you please give me some answers? We want to go on vacation, but yet we don't want to be stranded either! Thank you.

I have a 95 Pontiac Transport with the 3800.

I am experiencing problems that when the gas tank gets low, but still with more than 3 gallons in tank, the engine gets starved for gas due to a vacuum in the fuel tank. Twice, the car has stopped running and when I got out and opened/closed the gas cap to relieve the vacuum it ran fine.

Could it be a faulty gas cap or an indication of a larger problem?

I own a used 95 Pontiac Transport, and this past fall I replaced the transmission. Ever since the transmission replacement, the vehicle has always smelled warm. Now I can't get the heater to work and its -20 below. Is there a good chance that the wiring harness has melted or should I be checking the blower motor?

Thanks.

My wife's 1995 pontiac sub frame had to be dropped. This was done using a lift to raise the whole vehicle and then removing the sub frame. Big!!! Job!!! done by a experienced mechanic.
