1995 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 twin turbo 408hp

Summary:

A Porsche is just a name of an expensive yet ugly car

Faults:

Clutch, CLUTCH, compressor.

The car is a money pit. Cheap interior, I have spent over 9000 dollars in 4 years of careful driving in maintanance and the clutch is horrible quality for being a high performance car.

I had a Ferrari - that was pure problems and really high maintenance that I could no longer afford. Decided to go for a Porsche 911 Turbo that it seem more of an everyday drive. But ended with something very much like the Ferrari, but uglier looking.

I really would reconsider buying any high end European car if you don't have the money to pay for really unrealiable sports cars. I had owned European sedans my whole life and decided to go for 348 that took me to the bank.

Almost 4 years ago I purchased a 2000 Acura NSX comptech tuned from the CFO of the company I work for. He was from Japan, and told me that my European exotic car love and problems would end with this car. The car had 11,000 miles. It was the only car he ever drove and he wanted a new one with the T-tops. I had owned the NSX for 3 years and 9 months, and it has only seen a service to get oil, currently the car has 48,000 miles and it;s the fastest and most relible car I have ever owned. The car has never had anything REPLACED, and still can do a 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. I have to say it's truly amazing, I would highly recommend it over a Porsche Turbo or older Ferrari. I still think Ferrari had its values such as beauty, but the Acura comes very close and is a worry free exotic beauty.

General Comments:

The 911 Turbo is not what I expected from a German car. Poor quality and maintenance is high for a car that is supposed to be different from Italian troubled exotics. My wife had had a 1998 SLK Mercedes, a very high quality machine, she will never get rid of.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

Why would you buy something you thought was ugly?

I am sorry to hear of your Porsche woes. I have owned several of almost every model Porsche has made including numerous 911's. They have all been absolutely excellent cars and I still have 4 Porsches. I have raced them since 1986 and have won almost every series I've entered. The reliability has been outstanding, and I would not consider any other marque for competition use. I have heard that the nsx's are good cars, but they are not Porsche caliber, and will never be world class. Japan builds transportation for the masses, and does a good job at it. Maybe you were just out of your league.
