1988 Porsche 944 Turbo 2.5 I4 turbo

Summary:

It's like driving a fighter jet

Faults:

Engine seals are currently leaking.

Front-end need alignment.

Leaking oil has possibly shorted out wheel sensor (s) and cause ABS to go crazy every time you push the brake pedal.

Sunroof doesn't function properly.

General Comments:

Before the above mentioned issues this car could not be touched. It hugs the road and loves to GO GO GO!!

Previous owner installed a high intake air filter and new turbocharger with quicker spooling. When you open the throttle it puts you deep in the seat.

After its mechanical issues are solved, she will be awesome.

1988 Porsche 944 S 2.5L 16v

Summary:

Mega Fun-Factor Included

Faults:

Timing, Balance Belts replaced as preventative work.

Cam Chain Tensioner replaced as preventative work.

Broken lower radiator hose.

Rebuilt control arms (new ball joints)

Hood shocks went bad.

General Comments:

Here you have one of the best sports cars for the money. I can't think of many naturally aspirated 4-cylinder's that can keep up with this thing, even in 2004. The car feels like it is built with 4000 pounds of metal rather than 2600, and the perfect weight balance makes the car a great handler as well. If you are good at working a high-revving engine hard this would make for an excellent autocross car. My car has the 951 swaybar option and it still rolls a bit (not anything like a sedan though). Just needs poly or metal bushings and some more agressive dampening and spring rates... that turns these cars into world-class handling that is on par with any of today's sports cars-for a lot less $$.

The problem is my last Saab was a turbo and I'm in love with them. Just test drove a few 944 Turbo's, so I'm selling this for that.

1988 Porsche 944 Porsche 2.5 litres

Summary:

Low cost for a great car

Faults:

Air condition doesn't work.

Dents and scatches from driving behind a flat bed truck caring small rocks.

Heat cracks on the hood from old paint job.

Seats have started to wear badly.

Dash has started to wear and crack badly.

General Comments:

As my first car the Porsche 944 has amazed me with its quickness and high-speed cornering. Near where I live there are signs that say CAUTION SLOW DOWN FOR TURN, but I never pay atention to them in my 944. It's shocking that it can out turn Corvettes and Mustangs for one tenth of the price.

It was my first car too (see the 1985 944), and I hope you have the money to keep it maintained.

1988 Porsche 944 Turbo 2.5 turbo

Summary:

Never ceases to amaze!

Faults:

Tail light replaced

A/C converted to non CFC.

General Comments:

This is my second 944 but first turbo. I was lucky enough to buy it from a Porsche lover who took meticulous care of the car. It even smells new inside. Upgrades K & N Air filter, ecu (Autothority) and the turbo to put out 280+ bhp. Also 17" 996 rims with 255/40 zr (r), 225/45 zr (f). This car is an excellent daily driver. If not on the gas, it's very civil with relatively no turbo engagement, hence good fuel economy. However, dip into the throttle and it puts me deep into the seat. It is unmatched by most others. And handling? WOW!! With the 996 rims and fat tires, in corners, I literally cannot break it free from the pavement. Too much fun. Like Christmas morning, every day!
