1993 Saturn SL SL2 1.7 twin cam

Summary:

Absolutely good just take car of it right

Faults:

Well the car is old, but it still starts. Recently after I bought it the tranny went. But that is OK cause I'm takin the one out of my 1992 SL1.That one I bought at 195000. I drove it for a year the engine went bad, was bad when I bought it. That says something for the crap they will take. It was a college girls car and she never maintained it. I knew it had problems when I bought it. I expected the tranny to be bad in the 1993. The twin cam engine is awesome. So much power and speed. The air does not work nor do the power accessories. Again age. So I swapped interior and doors. Everthing is manual now. Very hard work, but I will have a really good car when its done. The body is great has a few rusties under the trim around the back doors. I fixed those with fiberglass. The car is good it just wasn't cared for you have to invest time and some money to keep a car going you can't expect them to just go forever. I hate that people complain about cars when it is obvious in there review that it was there wrong doing.

General Comments:

1993 Saturn SL SL2 Twin Cam 1.9

Summary:

Reliable car for a new family or student

Faults:

The weather stripping on the rear doors peeled off at about 70,000. The check engine light came on at about 120,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car has been a very reliable car. Really haven't had any problems with it since we have kept the oil changed, brakes, and spark plugs current on it. This little 4 cylinder gets up and goes granted that you use the manufactures recommended spark plugs. Since I can't mention any names or brands ill just say this. Don't use the "B" named plugs. Use the AC.

1993 Saturn SL SL1 1.9

Summary:

Absolutely a phenomenal little machine

Faults:

To Date:

Alternator, A/C Condenser, Wiper Motor.

General Comments:

This Little car won't quit. Have had the car 4 years and drive it nonstop. Have had no problems except the 3 minor things mentioned in the Gone Wrong Section.

Although, the car does use oil it doesn't burn or leak it just seems to use more than its share. If I continue to check it at least once a week I seem to have no problems.

I have taken the car on numerous road trips and I commute to work approx. 80 miles round-trip a day. I can always feel confident that the "Old Girl" will get me there on-time.

1993 Saturn SL SL1

Summary:

This car was great until it fell apart in a day

Faults:

It burns a quart of oil every 500 miles.

The transmission needs replaced.

The fork is broken.

The clutch needs replaced.

The bearings in the bottom of the engine need replaced.

The hazards don't work.

The Sunroof needs the electronics replaced.

The car leaks water when it rains.

General Comments:

I bought this Car for $1500 in August of 2003. It worked great except for burning oil. I took it in and got it looked at Saturn dealership several times and they didn't tell me anything major was ever wrong with it. And then my 1st day commuting 60 miles to my new job, the car's transmission and engine have serious problems. The mechanic said it would cost about $3000 to fix it! Ouch! It is better to buy a new car than fix it.

1993 Saturn SL Twin Cam 1.9

Summary:

Awesome performance

Faults:

Nothing has really gone wrong. I mean any idiot knows your car needs some care over the years and it depends how good of care is taken in the first place. If you don't care how much time you put into your car, it's not going to last long.

I replaced the muffler after 11 years so this car can hold up. I put a racing muffler made by American Parts company

General Comments:

All these guys complaining on how their car acts are dumb. Learn about your car and fix it yourself and you won't spend so much.

My car sounds great with a performance exhaust.

I replaced the 6.5 speakers after 11 years because they die out after so long.

Overall this car is nice and runs good.
