1993 Subaru Impreza L 1.8L

Summary:

Love it

Faults:

Minor - but burns oil.

General Comments:

I was looking for a commuter car and bought the impreza. I am the third owner and I have put 15000 miles on the car. I immediately put new brakes and tires on the car and have had NO PROBLEMS with it. Very reliable. I get about 26-27 mpg which right in the range its supposed to get.

The only "bad" thing is that it burns oil. I have to add about a quart a month. I put 2000 miles on the car every month.

1993 Subaru Impreza Base

Summary:

This car is off the charts - good

Faults:

Very little has gone wrong with this auto. It truly lives up to the Japanese standards of excellence. If anything, I would not fully recommend the ride as it is a tad rough, but for the money, it is well within reason.

General Comments:

Without a question, this is the best car I have ever owned in terms of reliability, durability and total satisfaction. Coupled with owning the worst car I have ever owned (Plymouth Voyager) I guess I've broken even, but only due to the extraordinary resilience of this car.

I would buy another (and plan to) in a hearbeat.

A bit cramped if you have more than 2 kids, but a perfect all-around commuter car.

No in 92.

1993 Subaru Impreza L 1.8 Liter 4 cylinder

Summary:

What an awesome car!

Faults:

Basically, I can't say that things have gone WRONG with the car... I have just done the maintenance services:

Replaced all brakes.

Replaced CV Joints.

Replaced Rear Strut.

At 55,000 the water pump went out and damaged the timing belt... both were fixed under warranty!

Some kind of heat sensor thing went out about 10,000 miles ago.

The cup holder on this model is in an unfortunate location above the manual shifter... if you like coffee with sugar, some of the drink may get into the shifting mechanism and cause lock ups during cold weather... my brother disabled some part inside the shifting mechanism and now we don't have that problem any more!

General Comments:

What a car! My dad advised me to look into Subaru when I was 21... best purchase I could have made. The '93 Impreza is the first of this model and I am astonished at how well this car is doing, both mechanically as well as its paint job and interior appearance as well. I take no caution in recommending this model or make of car! In my opinion it is the ideal car for any woman (or guy), but particularly any woman because they are just so darn reliable!

This car has surprisingly brisk acceleration for a four cylinder engine with an automatic.

The car has an excellent engine.

The climate controls are not adequately lit.

The windows could use frames.

1993 Subaru Impreza L 1.8

Summary:

The car you can wreck 8 times and still drive like new

Faults:

Radio stopped working at 62000 miles.

Starter went out at 160000.

General Comments:

For a 93 this car is nice inside and almost like 2001. The cars power is a little weak since I don't have the turbo.

You can do anything with this car it will go anywhere you want, you can pull powerslides on a snow covered country road or drive 120 mph on any highway. It will take a corner like no other.
