1990 Subaru Justy 1.2 3 cylinder.

Summary:

Great on gas, fun to drive, very reliable, worth fixing up

Faults:

In the short time I have had the car, not a whole lot has gone wrong.

I dug this car out of a barn, it had been sitting for 2 years without being used. The mice have gotten to the car, but once we cleaned it out and got rid of the smell it is a great car.

Even though it had been sitting, it was more than ready to run. It didn't even need to be jumped. It took right off and wanted to go.

I replaced the spark plugs, changed the oil, and checked all the fluids. The first thing I noticed was it didn't have power steering. But not until I was parking it did I realize it as it is very easy to drive.

The rear end of the car makes a knocking sound when in 4 wheel drive.

The hatch back door does not open and is frozen shut, it may take some work to get it open.

And the seats are a bit worn down. The car only has 63,000 miles on it, with one owner, and no rust anywhere on the cars body. Over all it is in great shape for being so old and will probably last another 12 years with care.

General Comments:

The car is not really ideal for long trips with the whole family as it doesn't give you much room to move around.

The seats are a bit hard, but Subaru is known for the seats not being the most comfortable. This is my third Subaru, first Justy.

1990 Subaru Justy 2.9L 5 Speed

Summary:

Great car at a great price, awesome on gas

Faults:

The brakes are going. I kind of don't want to fix them, but I will have to before winter.

Small oil leak on the engine. Tends to smell burning oil every know and then.

The dummy door locks are starting to go.

Some other minor things have also gone wrong.

General Comments:

The seats are very uncomfortable on long trips. I can't stand to be in them for more than an hour at a time.

It revs really high down the highway.

I put a stereo in it and have still yet to find the memory wire. The trunk is too small for my subs and it also lacks space for additional speakers. The stock speakers are also very difficult to gt at.

The thing that tends to be the most annoying is the dummy locks. Especially with other people and the passenger door.

Overall it is a great car. These few things can be ignored easily.

1990 Subaru Justy dl 1.2 3 cylinder

Summary:

Great LITTLE car

Faults:

Well, I've had it for 2 weeks. So far not a lot.

Had to replace the valve cover gasket the day after I bought it. Common on this car it seems.

Brakes are obnoxiously squeaky, but grab great.

I don't know what the deal is with this car yet, but when I get out of the car I have a hint of exhaust smell on me. Gotta fix that really soon.

Complete tune up, only because the car was owned by the original buyers since it had 29 miles on it. They were in their 70's so the car was in excellent shape, it had all original parts on it.

Had to replace the battery terminals, they were causing a "flickering" in my headlights and other lights, very annoying.

I had less of a shift throw on my 1978 Chevy pickup. It's spaced out a bit too much.

General Comments:

I bought this car from the original owner, it was very well taken care of by an elderly couple who bought it new. It's got a mint interior, excellent body, runs excellent, new tires. I can't really complain too much since I bought the car for $500.00, I basically stole the car for this price. It even has air conditioning, that works!

It's a bit too small though.

For a 3 cylinder car, this thing moves itself very well. It's pretty quick, it's a lot faster than a Geo Metro.

Overall it's a good little car, but I will be looking for something a bit bigger, I feel like I'm driving a golf cart.
