1993 Subaru Loyale

Summary:

A great, dependable, roomy and comfortable station wagon!

General Comments:

I have had to change parts of the exhaust system, the alternator, the battery and a tie rod end. My parents bought the car new and sold it to me when they bought a new Subaru. They never had to do any repairs. The brakes have never been touched yet!It is very dependable and does not need to be plugged in the the winter to start. My only regret? The car was never rustproofed and the body is almost past fixing (would cost too much). I wish I could find another one just like it without the rust!

You can't sell it because it is a 1.8L auto. which means its probably not 4wd and really gutless.

These are great cars. buy the manual 4WD and KEEP THE ENGINE COOL if you overheat any aluminium engine you will have trouble with the heads and gaskets. mine has 300,000mi and running strong.

1993 Subaru Loyale 1.8 inj

Summary:

VERY VERY bad car!!!

Faults:

My starter broke in 4 month after I got it.

My generator broke in 7 month.

A/C clutch broke after only 3 month.

And now my engine's starting to make a noise and I'll probably have to change it!

General Comments:

This car is very weak (only 90 hp) and has a poor performance because on 3-speed automatic transmition.

It has a poor gas milege.

This car is also very noisy inside the cabin and outside.

Problems come one after another. I'm tired to put my money in this car.

Do NOT buy this car!

You have a very bad outlook on this poor car...

The parts you listed are very common parts to replace on ANY car made ANY where in ANY decade. your starter needing replacing after 4 months is silly. the car was 9 years old.. not 7 months old.

The engine makes noises. It could be a billion things.. but probably a belt or something (unless you let it go to long).

You probably paid less than $2500 for the car. don't expect to have it act like a $25,000 car.

1993 Subaru Loyale 4WD Station Wagon 1.8 4 cylinder. boxer type

Summary:

Greatest bargain 4WD

Faults:

Upmost bad luck : oil pump shaft broke thus resulting in severe engine wear. I had to replace the engine at 110000k.

Others minors repairs were predictable and not costly.

Rust appeared after 6 years (lots of road salt used in my place).

General Comments:

Very cheap to buy: only model available with 4wd at 13500$CAN in 1993. Even with the engine replacement, this car is very economical in overall costs (repairs, gas, insurance, etc.)

Never got stuck in the snow/ice/mud.

Lots of space.

Highest ground clearance for a car.

I will buy another Subaru... if I can ever be disloyal to my Loyale.

1993 Subaru Loyale

Summary:

Once you go hatch, you never go back

Faults:

Nothing went wrong with this car that couldn't have been prevented. The axles went out at 160,000 miles, but that is about it. I was rear ended and the car was totalled.

General Comments:

This was the first and best car I have ever owned. I pimp-ed it out and put gold pin stripes and some shiny hub caps. I put a loud stereo system in it. I put gold racing wipers on it.

I used to pass people with better cars purposely. I raced Mustangs and Mercedes and won.

The 4 wheel drive was very reliable, it got me through any kind of snow. This car was great to own in the winter - it had great heat and did some pretty cool donuts in the snow if you knew how to drive it. I plan to get another one when I'm older and load it with everything.

Please don't believe the comment above. "I raced Mustangs and Mercedes and won". These engines are known for then sluggish starts and lack of power. They're good cars but if you're looking for a race car, this car is not for you.

Maybe he means Mercedes 190Es and Fox-platformed 4 cylinder Mustangs.
