Before I answer.. knock on wood so my good run with this car continues.
Just basic wear and tear. When my parents owned it, the transmission went sometime before 80000 miles.
I bought the car in 2002 right after the water pump and timing belt were replaced. Since then just the basic upkeep with oil changes every 3000 miles, switching to synthetic oil, premium gas, changing out the spark-plugs at 200000, new battery, distributor cap, spark plug wires, new tires, 2 mufflers, replaced all the pipes on the exhaust system, rear springs, new front axles, CV joints, control arms. The drivers seat is starting to wear, and being that the car deals with the weather in Pennsylvania, rust is starting to eat away at the rear wheel-wells and several edges near the trunk and on some of the doors. The A/C works when it wants to, sometimes for 2 hours straight, sometimes for 5 minutes. That is my only real gripe, especially in the summer.
Considering the 95 horsepower it started with in 1986, after the loss of compression over 20 years, the Camry starts out a little slow, but the engine really runs smooth once you get moving. I have blown past state troopers while going 85 and they just look at the car like "there is no way that thing is going that fast".
Always been there for me, there is no car I want to ever replace my 86 Camry.
