1996 Toyota Camry V6LE 3.0L V6 - Lexus Engine

Summary:

A Camry with a Lexus engine

Faults:

The Toyota Camry needed a new Alternator at around 108,500 miles. The battery needed to be replaced for the first time at 105,000 miles. At around 80,000 miles a truck was driving in front of the vehicle when the truck's tires blew. The owners put on newer more expensive rims due to running over the trucks tires. The Camry also needed a new stainless steel exhaust system due to the damages at 80,000 miles. Other than the problems that we have inflicted on it, the car runs great.

General Comments:

This car runs great. It is quiet and sounds like new at 109,100 miles. I am actually planning on putting new exhaust heads on it and making two exhaust pipes, instead of one. I am also planning to put new intake heads in the engine. When I have the heads out I am also going to re-bore the engine and put new pistons in, making it a 3.3L V6. After making the engine stronger, I plan on supercharging and putting Nitrous Oxide in it. When all my plans are finished, I will be left with a 500 horsepower Supercharged Toyota Camry with a re-bored 3.3L V6 Lexus Engine and Nitrous Oxide. The car will be able to do about 9.5 seconds in the quarter mile.

It's not a lexus engine... not entirely anyway, but I love it... so smooth!!

How do you plan on doing 9.5 seconds in the 1/4 mile with a front drive, passenger car? It doesn't matter how much horsepower you have, how are you going to put that down on the pavement? doesn't make sense to me, but I could be wrong.

1996 Toyota Camry LE 2.2

1996 Toyota Camry LE 2.2 liter 4-cylinder

Summary:

Easy to drive and reliable!

Faults:

Front passenger window quit working at 85,000 miles.

Sun roof not acting right at 93,000 miles.

Pinstripe keeps peeling off the car.

General Comments:

I like the Camry and I think it has adequate power for the type of car it is. You wouldn't want to much power from a, so called, family sedan. The 2.2 liter engine does good and the power button adds a nice boost to the acceleration. This car was probably the easiest I've ever drove. It is a very smooth car. I'm sure anyone who owned one would appreciate it.

1996 Toyota Camry LX 2.0

Summary:

Great

Faults:

The battery has totally discharged once.

The CPU that controls emissions stopped functioning, (it costs about $2000) but was replaced for no charge under the warranty (this part has a five year warranty).

Very small and negligible leak in the exhaust pipe, caused by driving too fast over a big bump!!!

General Comments:

- The seats of this model (actually all 1992-1997 Camrys) are uncomfortable!

- Driving this car is really enjoyable and it's a comfortable ride!
