1982 Toyota Celica GT 22R 2.4 L Carburated

Summary:

Good to the last

Faults:

I totaled the car shortly after getting it from my father as a loner first car. I was 16 at the time, and a person ran a stop sign in a 92 Saturn 4 Door. Totaled their car, and just bent the front end up. On the way home, the original hood folded back up on me. I put a 85 hood on it for 20 bucks, and bent the front end back down.

I totaled it again in September. I was going too fast and the darn road stopped and led into a ditch.

Reverse and first grind like heck.

The rear wheel wells rusted out, allowing water to enter the trunk (at large volume) The rear trunk hatch also rusted badly around the emblem.

It tried to overheat if I went over 90 :)

General Comments:

I loved this car. My dad took it back when I got my 91 Mazda Protege, and it is going to be sold. It was a great first car, with excellent gas milage and great reliability. Unfortunately, the drive-shaft came off on the last day I drove it, but that wasn't the car's fault.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I own an 82 Celica, an awesome car with a few modifications of course...

After 3 months of thrashing and clocking speeds over 200km/h my engine blew.

I'm currently in the process of fitting a 3.8lt v6 Holden in her which will be able to handle my heavy foot.

Because of the small cabin space inside the car it allows for awesome audio capabilities.

I've installed

*Sony head unit

*pioneer splits

*kicker 6x9's

*2x 12" 1000w sub woofers

*2 amps to run the woofers

*1 amp to run splits and 6x9's.

My system is capable of pulling 160db and makes my roof pulse about an inch up and down.

A very sweet car 11 out of 10.

My mom has an absolutely beautiful 1983 Toyota Celica GT lift back that was recently repainted. I have been looking high and low for a replacement hood emblem as the original has lost the center insert. Suggestions would be most appreciated concerning possible leads to locate an emblem. Thanks.

Dave.
