1985 Toyota Corolla LE 4AC 1.6

Summary:

Better than any new American car!!!

Faults:

Preventative maintenance timing belt and basic tune-up.

With only 77,000 miles on this car, it is practically new.

General Comments:

Whiteline struts, springs, and sway-bars are unreal.

Out-handles $100,000 dollar cars in curves and corners.

Slips through the tiniest spaces in traffic. Micro-Car.

Low power, 38 MPG reliability all day long.

1985 Toyota Corolla hatchback 1.6 gas

Summary:

The best car I have owned

Faults:

The heater core needed to be replaced (leaky).

The rear struts were replaced (one failed so I replaced both)

I am currently trying to solve an issue with the vacuum advance.

General Comments:

This is the best car I have ever owned. It has always gotten me were I needed to go. It has been driven as far south as Las Vegas (twice) and as far north as Dawson Creak, BC (I am from Vancouver, BC). It has great handling and a smooth ride. The gas mileage is very good.

It averages 32 mpg and gets about 38 mpg on the highway.

It cruises nicely at 100-120 km/h but can do 160 km/h (100 miles an hour) if you want it to. As long as the snow is not higher than the bumper, it will get you were your going. The car is light so it is easy on breaks and tires.

1985 Toyota Corolla DX American Modified 4A-GEC

Summary:

Effing Smexy!!!

Faults:

Nothing so far has gone wrong with the car. When I gat it, it was pretty beat up. Minor rust spots, body damage, busted dash, and an old interior. I had to replace the tires, power steering pump and some exterior light covers. Otherwise, the car is in great running condition. I bout the car for intentions of becoming a professional drifter, but money problems have stopped me... So far...

General Comments:

Hahaha! I can't find pictures of this car online ANYWHERE!!!

1985 Toyota Corolla Deluxe 1.6L I4

Summary:

This car was quite possibly the best car I have ever driven, and I'd probably buy another

Faults:

Tires wore out at 220k.

I did have to replace the strut mount on the front passenger's side.

It got stolen and everything that wasn't bolted down was taken out of it.

Severe rust on the front fenders and along the back wheel wells (it came from Missouri)

I got in an accident with it and smashed up the front drivers' side fender over the hood, but it came out with a simple pry bar.

Engine threw a rod at 243080 (*NEVER* lend out your car to a teenager)

General Comments:

This car was ridiculously reliable. I don't take care to do routine maintenance very often, but that car was ridiculously maintenance-free.

It had reasonable get-up-and-go, especially compared to my previous 1984 Mazda GLC, and the 5-speed was super.

The seats were fairly comfortable, but they don't ventilate very well, and on hot days it gets a tad bit uncomfortable.

I'd buy another, but probably not a DX. I'd probably go for a GT-S or an SR5.

For a car that cost me $650 used, and lasted almost 2 years and only quit because someone didn't know how to drive a standard and told me he did, this thing was a fantastic buy.

"This car was quite possibly the best car I have ever driven"

I don't mean to be offensive, but is this the only car you've ever driven?

It might very well be the only car this person's ever driven, being that it's a Toyota and probably has never broken down. There's a reason the Corolla is the best selling nameplate of all time. Toyota reliability, fun to drive, affordable, best gas mileage of any non-hybrid car in the United States... shall I go on?

1985 Toyota Corolla DX 5-door Don't remember

Summary:

BEST car I have ever owned

Faults:

I put front brakes and rotors on it, front struts, ignition module, 4 tires, slave cylinder, plugs and wires, and all new filters. Extremely reliable car.

General Comments:

I LOVED this car, have kicked myself in the rear since getting rid of it. I paid $400.00 for it when I bought it, drove it back and forth to work for several years and replaced only the listed items, then sold it for $400.00 because I no longer needed a third car. For the $400.00 I got out of it, I should have kept it. At one time I even had it completely loaded up with fire wood from front to back. Mile for mile, this was the best car I have ever owned, started right up on the coldest of mornings or hottest of afternoons. I would pay twice what I paid for mine for another one in a heartbeat.
