2003 Toyota Corolla S

Summary:

The Corolla is a friendly, reliable, sturdy little-big car

Faults:

Nothing! Not one darned thing! The "Check Engine" light came on once and it was because I had left the gas cap open.

General Comments:

This is my favorite car ever and after I drive this one into the ground, I'll buy another.

It's very cute, the dashboard is very conveniently designed.

It's pretty good on gas.

It's small, but not too small. Pretty room inside for such a small car.

I love love love my Corolla!

2003 Toyota Corolla LE 1.8 1ZZ VTTi

Summary:

Great economy car

Faults:

Nothing mechanically has gone wrong with the car so far.

Around 28,000 miles a filter had to be changed behind the glove box. It was a filter for the air conditioner.

The car has been tapped on the rear bumper from other drivers in my apartment complex and the paint flakes off very easy. My mother was also involved in an accident and hit in the front and a majority of the paint was chipping off.

General Comments:

Definately a car that is easy to drive. The steering is very predictable. The controls are easily accessible for the driver.

The engine compartment is very "roomy" with plenty of space to fit your hands.

The trunk has a good amount of space for items.

The stereo system is great for a stock system.

Problems I've seen with the car are the visibility of the windows in the car. They are somewhat high and small. The rear headrests can intrude vision when backing up at times also. I almost backed up into a Civic in a parking lot because the headrest block my whole vision of it.

The rear seats are also quite small and can be cramped for taller people.

The driving pedal doesn't have much of a range to control the throttle.

I also received free oil changes from Toyota, but its pointless as it normally takes 2+ weeks to make an appointment to get it.

Overall it's a great economy car and will fit the needs people will usually need in this car class. Awesome gas mileage also! I average 26 miles a gallon.

Would definitely suggest an new XRS for those who are more interested in tunning and performance.

Faults:

There's a lot of noise in the inside if you turn off the music and listen.

Other than that nothing has gone wrong with it.

It has a very nice interior and exterior.

It's very comfortable.

I agree with everything you said about the car, they're great... so if you want to sell let me know... Indiana Lien Inc.

2003 Toyota Corolla CE 1.8 liter 4 cylinder

Summary:

An excellent value

Faults:

The valve of the left rear tire was discovered at approximately 15000 miles to be defective, causing two flats. The tire had to be replaced.

At approximately 25000 miles, the engine's belt tensioner broke causing damage to the belt and the battery. All three parts were still under warranty and replaced by the dealer.

One concern exists with a one time incident of ice expulsion from the air vents with the air conditioning on while at the same time having reduced air flow. I never reported the problem as it happened only once. The unit had obviously "frozen up".

General Comments:

The 2003 Toyota Corolla CE is a very good value for the money. I found through my own research that it had more standard equipment than a Honda Civic. The CE came equipped with power mirrors, air conditioning, auto transmission, tilt steering and a four speaker AM/FM stereo radio with a CD player, all standard.

Gas mileage is very impressive. I get approximately 28 miles per gallon in mixed driving. However, acceleration is merely adequate.

Rattling noises from the speedometer console, passenger side seat belt and driver side window are present sometimes. However, road and wind noise are very well muted, making the ride impressively quiet for an economy car.

The seats are firm and supportive.

Interior room is very large for a car of this class, as is the trunk room. It can seat four passengers very comfortably.

The one exception to the comfort level is the steering wheel. It seems to be too far away. The steering wheel has no telescoping adjustment and the driver's seat has no height adjustment.

I have a 2003 corolla CE and it does NOT come standard with power windows.

Pro: Low maintenance, good gas mileage.

Con: The standard windows are annoying. The clock no longer lights. The top tray door is broken. Replacement tires are much better than OEM.
