1984 Toyota Supra Celica 2.8L

Summary:

A fixer-upper with potential

Faults:

Keeps blowing the engine fuse.

Had severe oil leaks.

Has started overheating.

Has a broken computer (controls timing, engine performance).

General Comments:

I bought this car about a month ago, very cheap. It had obviously not been kept up. Definitely a project of a car.

The hatchback had lots of rusted out spots. A trip to the junkyard showed this to be a common problem with this model.

The computer that controls the engine and timing is not working. I found one other matching computer, used, at the junkyard and it was broken too. I'm hoping that when I get a working computer this will solve some of my other problems.

The car keeps blowing engine fuses. I don't know why this is happening yet. A nice feature though is that each time the fuse breaks, the headlights come up and when I put in a new fuse they go back down. It makes a great indicator.

The car stalls once in a while at red lights. However, it starts right back up.

The car began overheating when I tried to drive it out of the county. Unlike other cars, though, it didn't stay overheated. This got me home.

This car was abused and needs a lot of work. However, I think it has great potential. Even with a broken computer it has pick-up!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Have you check the head gasket, it might be the problem for then stalling and overheating.
