2016 Volkswagen Beetle Cabrio 2.0 TSI petrol

Summary:

Incredibly cool, great little car to enjoy

Faults:

Leaving aside minor electrical faults, typical of modern cars (the engine malfunction light usually comes on due to sensor failures, but the engine itself works without any problems), the only fault that the car registered was the DSG automatic gearbox, a headache that ended when I finally changed it almost 3 years ago with about 70000 miles.

Proper maintenance is crucial, especially oil changes and cooling system checks to prevent major problems because the 2.0 TSI engine requires attention to certain critical points, particularly in the cooling and distribution systems, to ensure its longevity.

General Comments:

The second-generation Beetle represents a considerable improvement over its predecessor, both in design and in comfort and practicality. Having driven both, the difference is remarkable. The suspension is much softer, the handling is significantly smoother, and it also boasts a much more powerful and reliable engine.

I bought the car practically new with only 2,000 miles, and I still have it to this day. There's a lot of talk about the Beetle's reputation (which isn't always so good). I can only say good things about my car. Besides having incredibly low fuel consumption, it never had any major mechanical problems except for the gearbox.

The TSI engine is small, only 2 liters, but with more than enough power. The acceleration is incredible, it's very good, and it handles perfectly on the road.

As for the design, it's clearly sportier than the first Beetle, and the Cabrio version looks spectacular. The interior is more than comfortable for two people, and the quality of the materials is also excellent. It has no rust problems, even though I live in a coastal city; in that respect, the sheet metal is incredibly resistant.

If you maintain it properly, you'll have a car to enjoy for a long time. It has everything I want and look for: a relatively inexpensive car that's fuel-efficient, sporty, and doesn't have too many silly problems. It's a great homage to the old Beetles of the 60s and 70s that you still see around here.

The only downside is that it was discontinued a few years ago.

Completely agree with everything.

The second-generation New Beetle was a leap forward in quality across the board. Unlike many restylings, the changes in this car were beneficial.

It gained significantly in reliability (at least there weren't countless failures reported like in the previous one), design, and also the interior, especially the speedometer and dashboard.

Summary:

Best car I’ve ever had!

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

This little speed demon has a super quiet cabin on dirt roads, in city traffic, and it gets nearly 40 MPG with regular gas, cruising at 70 mph.

The 18 inch rims really refine the ride at high speeds and on curve ridden hilly roads.

The stereo is amazing!
